dividualized treatment protocols due to the variability of patient clinical presentation and survivability. A number of factors appear to influence mortality the stage at which the patient first presented for care, pre-existing health conditions, age, and the viral load the patient carried. Conclusion and Relevance COVID-19 can be divided into three distinct stages, beginning at the time of infection (Stage I), sometimes progressing to pulmonary involvement (Stage II, with or without hypoxemia), and less frequently to systemic inflammation (Stage III). In addition to modeling the stages of disease progression along with diagnostic testing, we have also created a treatment algorithm that considers age, comorbidities, clinical presentation, and disease progression to suggest drug classes or treatment modalities. This paper presents the first evidence-based recommendations for individualized treatment for COVID-19.Significantly increased imported schistosomiasis cases have been reported in China as the economy grows. The aim of this study is to review and summarize the current status, clinical features, and transmission risk of imported infections of Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma haematobium in China. A retrospective study was performed to review all information regarding the imported cases of schistosomiasis collected from published literature and the database of the National Notifiable Disease Report System from 1979 to 2019. The characterization of epidemiological and clinical features was analyzed. A total of 355 cases of imported schistosomiasis have been reported in 15 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) in China since 1979, including 78 cases of infection with S. mansoni (21.97%), 262 cases with S. haematobium (73.80%), and 15 cases with unidentified Schistosoma species. Eosinophilia was the most common sign of the infection with S. mansoni (91.03%). The parasitological findings were confirmed in 89.74% (70/78) of cases infected with S. mansoni and 32.06% (84/262) of cases infected with S. haematobium. There was no imported case of infection of Schistosoma japonicum, Schistosoma intercalatum, or Schistosoma mekongi reported in China during this period. Praziquantel is the best therapeutic drug for curing imported schistosomiasis. In addition, Biomphalaria straminea, the intermediate host of S. mansoni, has already been found in Guangdong province in south China. There is a rising risk that the existence of the intermediate host B. straminea and the imported cases of S. mansoni infection could cause the spread of the infections and make these endemic. Thus, better understanding of the clinical features and the transmission pattern of these Schistosoma infections would assist Chinese physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of these imported schistosomiasis cases.Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and bullous pemphigoid (BP) are chronic autoimmune diseases in which B cells play an important pathogenic role in the different stages of the disease. B cell-targeted therapies have been suggested as a new rational approach for treating SLE. Rituximab (RTX), an anti-CD20 chimeric monoclonal antibody, failed to achieve primary endpoints in two clinical trials (EXPLORER and LUNAR) despite multiple observational and retrospective studies showing its beneficial effect on SLE. Moreover, RTX is recommended in cases of BP that is unresponsive to conventional treatments. Belimumab (BLM), a human immunoglobulin G1 λ monoclonal antibody that inhibits soluble B-lymphocyte stimulator (BlyS)/B-cell activating factor (BAFF), is the only biological treatment approved for standard therapy of refractory autoantibody-positive active SLE. StemRegenin 1 research buy Animal models and a few case reports have supported the efficacy of the combined use of RTX followed by BLM as maintenance therapy in severe lupus nephritis (LN), suggesting that their combined use may be more effective than their single use, without compromising safety. In this study, we describe the clinical case of a SLE patient with predominant renal involvement in overlap with BP, refractory to conventional therapy including RTX alone, achieving significant steroid sparing and clinical remission under sequential treatment of RTX-BLM. Moreover, we describe the first case of BP successfully treated with BLM. This case report may encourage further clinical research studies in B lymphocyte targeted combination therapy in patients affected by SLE with major organ involvement or with refractory disease, suggesting that RTX and BLM sequential therapy may be a valid option for the treatment of SLE manifestations, including conventional therapy and RTX-resistant LN.Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is an inflammatory condition characterized by a strong heterogeneity and multifaceted behavior. PsA manifests in two types-axial and peripheral-which may be present at the same time. Peripheral manifestations can be further divided into the articular (arthritis) and extra-articular (i.e., enthesitis and dactylitis) subgroups. In such a complex disease, imaging is often required to characterize the type of involvement and to evaluate the radiological damage and progression of PsA. In addition, imaging plays a pivotal role in clinical practice; that is, for axial involvement. Conventional radiology has been the main standard of reference for many years. However, in recent years, there has been growing interest in different imaging modalities, such as ultrasonography (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). All these techniques play a role in the diagnosis and follow-up of patients with PsA and cover all the types of the disease. US and MRI have good sensitivities and specificities for detecting synovitis, and this may be helpful for differential diagnosis with other musculoskeletal diseases and useful in the early or preclinical phases of the disease. However, US is not useful in the diagnosis of axial PsA. In addition, other modalities have been investigated in the field of PsA imaging. Computed tomography (CT), in particular, dual energy-CT and high-resolution peripheral CT (HRpQ-CT) might play an important role in the assessment of bone damage, erosions, and new bone formation. Regarding advanced functional imaging, FDG PET/CT is another interesting technique for exploring disease activity.
