Seagrasses constitute a significant part of coral reef ecosystems, representing high primary productivity and one of the most important coastal habitats in marine ecosystems. Though seagrasses possess irreplaceable ecological services to the marine environment, taxonomical ambiguity still exists due to similar morphological characters and phenotypic plasticity. As an emerging technology, DNA barcoding can effectively identify cryptic species using a short orthologous DNA region. In this study, we collected samples from five different locations (Daya Bay, Xincun Bay, Sanya Bay, Xisha Islands, and Nansha Islands), and three seagrass species Cymodocea rotundata, Thalassia hemprichii and Halophila ovalis was evaluated. Moreover, ITS, matK and rbcL genes were used as DNA barcodes. The results indicated that single ITS and concatenated ITS/matK/rbcL both conducted better species resolution than single matK and rbcL. Nevertheless, single ITS was more convenient. Furthermore, in all the four topology trees, three species resolved as 3 clusters as well H. ovalis and T. hemprichii grouped as sister clade. In the meantime, differentiation lay in intra-species based on the result of single ITS and three-locus analysis. Within H. ovalis and T. hemprichii separately, individuals from Xisha Islands first group together, then grouped with individuals from Nansha Islands and/or Xincun Bay and/or Sanya Bay and/or Daya Bay, which indicated that geographical distribution influenced population evolution. However, intra-species differentiation did not emerge in the tree of matK or rbcL.The objective of this study was to describe the dynamics of blood plasma heating and coagulation processes carried out by continuous laser radiation with wavelengths 1.55 and 1.94 μm through bare-tip fibers and fibers with radial output (radial fibers) used for endovenous laser coagulation (EVLC). The study was performed in previously thawed frozen donor blood plasma using high-speed shooting of the heating process through the shadow optical method. It has been shown that in the case of highly water-absorbed laser radiations, convection, explosive, and small-bubble boiling play a major role in the process of heat transfer and coagulation. It has been shown that in the case of radiation with wavelength λ = 1.94 μm, effective heat transfer begins at significantly lower levels of power compared to radiations with λ = 1.55 μm. It has been established that heat transfer is sharply asymmetrical and is directed mainly upwards and forwards (bare-tip fiber) or upwards (radial fibers). For a wavelength of 1.94 μm, the effect of self-cleaning of the fiber surface from coagulated plasma fragments was found. Except for short-term acts of explosive boiling, the heat transfer is asymmetrical and directed mainly upwards. This effect should lead to uneven heating and thermal damage to the vein wall with the maximum at its upper part. For EVLC, the use of radiation with a wavelength of 1.94 μm is more efficient and safer.Rescue behavior is a kind of prosocial response that involves the provision of help to a stressed individual. This behavior has been observed in domestic dogs assisting their owners when they pretended to be trapped. Given the role of the hormone oxytocin as a facilitator for prosocial behavior, we aimed to evaluate the effects of its intranasal administration on the rescue behavior of dogs directed to their owners. In addition, we used the Monash Dog Owner Relationship Scale (MDORS) to assess whether the dog-owner bond was associated with this behavior. After receiving either oxytocin or saline, dogs participated in a stressed condition in which their owner pretended to be stressed inside of a box, or a control one, in which the owner was in a calm state. Dogs released their owners more frequently in the stressed condition. Contrary to our expectations, dogs who received oxytocin were less likely to open the box and took longer to do so than those that received saline. Regarding the dog-owner bond, dogs in the stressed condition who received oxytocin exhibited a lower rate and a higher latency of openings the more intense the bond was, while the opposite pattern was observed in dogs in the control condition who received saline. In conclusion, dogs would rescue their owners when they pretended to be trapped and stressed. Both oxytocin administration and the bond with the owner appear to modulate this behavior, but further studies are needed to inquire into the involved mechanisms.
The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly spread worldwide. As it is a novel disease, we have less experience in its possible appearances. Predominantly affecting the respiratory tract, about 20-43% patients also present with extrapulmonary manifestations such as coagulation disorders with thrombotic angiopathy.

In our institution, a patient presented to the emergency department with acute abdominal pain which was caused by portal vein thrombosis. As a COVID-19 nasopharyngeal antigen swab few days earlier was negative, we performed several tests to find out its etiology. After all tests were inconclusive and the patient suffered flu-like symptoms 2 weeks before, we repeated COVID-19 molecular testing and received a positive test result. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/gw806742x.html The patient was treated symptomatically and received therapeutic anticoagulation.

In patients with severe abdominal pain and new diagnosed portal vein thrombosis, it is important to think of a COVID-19 infection. Also, the reliability of antigen nasopharyngeal swab should be considered critically, especially if performed wrongly. We recommended to perform molecular tests when in doubt. After the diagnosis of portal vein thrombosis, immediate anticoagulation is recommended to reduce the risk of further complications like intestinal infarction.
