[This corrects the article DOI 10.1186/s40545-020-00219-1.].Background In 2015, the drive-through pharmacy was first introduced in Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Malaysia as one of the pharmacy value-added services. Therefore, it is imperative to review the service for further amelioration to fulfil patients' needs and expectations. Objective The aim of this study is to evaluate the drive-through pharmacy service in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Malaysia. Methods A cross-sectional observational study was conducted from July to December 2018. The questionnaire was developed and underwent thorough validation process which yielded a Cronbach's alpha reliability score of 0.9130. Satisfaction was calculated by mean percentage score (0% (dissatisfied) to 100% (satisfied). All data were analysed descriptively and thematic analysis was used in analysing open-ended question. Results Compliance in obtaining medication was at 96.3% with a given two-week grace collection period. Insufficient quantity of medications (33.3%) was the highest near-missed medication errors occurred at the drive-through pharmacy. The mean satisfaction percentage score for all patients were 76.6% ± 8.1. A total of 69.2% (n = 83) were "very satisfied" while 30.8% (n = 37) were "satisfied" with the service. Among the reasons for satisfaction are convenience in getting medication refills (n = 74, 62%), short waiting time (n = 75, 63%) and knowledgeable dispensers (n = 87, 73%). A handful of patients were "dissatisfied" with the opening hours (n = 14, 11.7%) and the location of the drive-through pharmacy service (n = 19, 15.8%). Conclusion Compliance in medication collection is acceptable within stipulated grace period. Despite low occurrence, identification of near-missed medication errors provides useful insights for future improvement of the service. Generally, our patients are satisfied with the service. However, we need to re-evaluate on the opening hours and location of the service. Background Compared to injury surveillance in Olympic athletes relatively little literature exists for Paralympic athletes. Injury surveillance data underpin design and evaluation of injury prevention strategies in elite sport. The aim of this study is investigate upper quadrant injuries in elite athletes with limb deficiency. Methods A retrospective analysis of upper quadrant injuries in elite athletes with limb deficiency with available data (2008-2016) was conducted using medical notes extracted from English Institute of Sport (EIS) records. Eligibility criteria included funded athletes, eligible for EIS physiotherapy support with an upper and/or lower limb disability arising from full or partial limb deficiency. Results A total 162 injuries from 34 athletes were included. Participant characteristics 20 males (59%), from 9 sports, with mean age 27 years (range 16-50 years) and 15 with congenital limb loss (44%). Athletes age 20-29 years experienced most injuries, four per athlete. The glenohumeral joint was the reported injury site (23%, n = 38). Index (first) injuries accounted for 77% (n = 128) injuries, 17% (n = 28) a recurrence and 6% (n = 10) an exacerbation. More than half of injuries occurred in training (58%, n = 94), this being slightly higher in those with traumatic limb loss. Athletes with quadruple levels of limb deficiency had double the number of recurrent injuries as those with single or double limb deficiency. Acetosyringone datasheet Conclusion Elite athletes with limb deficiency experience upper quadrant injuries, with glenohumeral joint the most frequently reported. The quality and consistency of data reported limits definitive conclusions, although findings highlight the importance of precision and accuracy in recording injury surveillance to enable implementation of effective injury prevention strategies. Background Lysyl oxidase (LOX) has been described as necessary for premetastatic niche formation in epithelium-derived malignancies and its expression level therefore correlates with risk of metastatic disease and overall survival. However, its role in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) has not been sufficiently analyzed. Methods We investigated LOX plasma expression in 683 AML patients (age 17-60 years) treated within the prospective AML2003 trial (NCT00180102). The optimal cut-off LOX value was determined using a minimal-p-value method dichotomizing patients into a LOX-high group (> 109 ng/mL, n = 272, 40%) and a LOX-low group (≤ 109 ng/mL, n = 411, 60%). Results Higher LOX expression was associated with lower peripheral white blood cells, lower serum LDH, and a lower frequency of FLT3-ITD and NPM1 mutations at diagnosis. Higher LOX expression was found significantly more frequently in patients with secondary AML and therapy-related AML, in patients with French-American-British M5 subtypes, and in patients with agroup of AML patients with extramedullary disease. Trial registration This retrospective study was performed with patient samples registered within the prospective AML2003 trial (NCT00180102). Patients were enrolled between December 2003 and November 2009.Incisional hernias are a very common condition and they still are considered to be a surgical challenge due to their recurrence rate. Smoking, obesity and age are risk factors for developing these abdominal wall defects. Despite recent advances in hernia repairs, the recurrence rates of hernias did not significantly diminished, even after the introduction of meshes. The aim of this article is to report a case of a ventral incisional hernia in a 37-year-old man and its successful treatment with a procedure known as the Alcino-Lázaro technique repair. This procedure has been shown to be very effective in incisional hernias, especially in obese patients. Furthermore, it is as cheap as it is reliable, since it can be performed without technological aid or expensive materials (mesh); thus, patients in low-income countries can greatly benefit from this procedure.A 67-year-old man was diagnosed with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and underwent transurethral resection of the lesions in August 2017. The pathological findings revealed high-grade urothelial carcinoma. The tumor relapsed as urothelial carcinoma with sarcomatoid/osteosarcoma variant with vascular invasion, and transurethral resection was performed in December 2017. He underwent laparoscopic radical cystoprostatectomy and orthotopic neobladder reconstruction using ileum in March 2018. The patient developed lung metastasis in July 2018. He underwent four courses of chemotherapy with doxorubicin and thoracoscopic left lower lobectomy of the lung in October 2018.
