Ultimately, PE performed in the early in life is also a critical window of opportunity to positively modulate the juvenile and adult phenotype. Parental PE has a positive impact in several health-related offspring outcomes, such as SM metabolism, differentiation, morphology and ultimately in offspring exercise volition and endurance. Also, early-life PE counteracts conceptional-related adverse effects and induces long-lasting healthy benefits throughout adulthood. Additionally, epigenetics mechanisms seem to play a key role in the PE-induced SM adaptations. Despite the undoubtedly positive role of parental and early-life PE on SM phenotype, a strong research effort is still needed to better understand the mechanisms that positively regulate PE-induced SM programming.Understanding the processes of environmental DNA (eDNA) persistence and degradation is essential to determine the spatiotemporal scale of eDNA signals and accurately estimate species distribution. The effects of environmental factors on eDNA persistence have previously been examined; however, the influence of the physiochemical and molecular states of eDNA on its persistence is not completely understood. Here, we performed meta-analyses including 26 previously published papers on the estimation of first-order eDNA decay rate constants, and assessed the effects of filter pore size, DNA fragment size, target gene, and environmental conditions on eDNA decay rates. Almost all supported models included the interactions between the filter pore size and water temperature, between the target gene and water temperature, and between the target gene and water source, implying the influence of complex interactions between the eDNA state and environmental conditions on eDNA persistence. These findings were generally consistent with the results of a reanalysis of a previous tank experiment which measured the time-series changes in marine fish eDNA concentrations in multiple size fractions after fish removal. Our results suggest that the mechanism of eDNA persistence and degradation cannot be fully understood without knowing not only environmental factors but also cellular and molecular states of eDNA in water. Further verification of the relationship between eDNA state and persistence is required by obtaining more information on eDNA persistence in various experimental and environmental conditions, which will enhance our knowledge on eDNA persistence and support our findings.
Of interest is the long-term neck and shoulder impairment of patients treated with primary chemoradiotherapy (CRT). This is important for counseling patients regarding treatment decisions when discussing primary CRT.

A cross-sectional study to identify factors that contribute to neck and shoulder dysfunction in patients treated with primary CRT. We utilized the neck dissection impairment index (NDII). Eighty-seven patients treated between 2003 and 2010, who were free of disease, responded; 24 of these 87 underwent post-CRT neck dissection. Mean interval since completion of CRT was over 5 years (62.7 months). Mean age, 63.5 years, malefemale 7512.

Mean NDII score was 87.4 (SD 22.1, range 5-100). Multiple linear regression revealed worse NDII scores for patients with larger pre-CRT gross tumor nodal volume (GTVnodal), controlled for age, sex, body mass index (BMI), and the presence of neck dissection (p = 0.02). There were significant associations with increasing GTVnodal and "low" scores for components of the NDII that assessed neck pain (p = 0.02), neck stiffness (p = 0.01), lifting heavy objects (p = 0.02), reaching overhead (p = 0.02), and ability to do work (p = 0.02). Physical therapy (PT) was evaluated as an "anchor" but it was prescribed "as needed." Regression revealed participation in PT was associated with higher GTVnodal, lower BMI, presence of neck dissection, and female sex (p = 0.00007).
