Primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors are among the most common and lethal types of cancer in children. However, the existence of health disparities in CNS tumors by race or ethnicity remains poorly understood. This systematic review sought to determine whether racial and ethnic disparities in incidence, healthcare access, and survival exist among pediatric patients diagnosed with CNS tumors.

A search of MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, and Scopus was conducted. Inclusion criteria selected for studies published between January 1, 2005 and July 15, 2020 that focused on pediatric populations in the US, evaluated for potential differences based on racial or ethnic backgrounds, and focused on CNS tumors. A standardized study form was used to collect study information, population of interest, research design, and quality of analysis, sample size, participant demographics, pathology evaluated, and incidence or outcomes observed.

A total of 30 studies wereinlcuded. Studies suggest White children may be more likely to be diagnosed with a CNS tumor and Hispanic children to present with advanced-stage disease and have worse outcomes. The degree of influence derived from socioeconomic factors is unclear. This review was limited by few available studies that included race and ethnicity as a variable, the overlap in databases used, and unclear categorization of race and ethnicity.

It has been known that ventricular conduction delays play a key role in the cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) response of patients with advanced heart failure (HF). However, no study to our knowledge has yet evaluated the serial changes in conduction times measured between different electrodes of CRT devices.

The Reduction or Extension of Conduction Time with Ventricular Electromechanical Remodeling (RECOVER) study (NCT04397224) was designed to investigate serial changes in interelectrode conduction times and to elucidate their prognostic value. We plan to enroll 100 patients implanted with CRT systems with endocardial quadripolar left ventricular leads. Patients will be scheduled for follow-up every 3 months over a period of 2 years, where they will undergo measurement of interelectrode conduction times to evaluate their serial changes. The primary outcome of the RECOVER study is the correlation between the degree of conduction time changes and the CRT response as defined by echocardiography. The time course and prognostic value of the serial changes in conduction times will be investigated as well.

We sought to clarify the electrocardiographic and electrophysiological characteristics of ventricular arrhythmias (VAs), including idiopathic ventricular tachycardia (VT) and premature ventricular contractions (PVCs), with acute successful radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) at the left ventricular basal inferoseptum recess near the mitral annulus (LV-BIS-MA).

The aim of the study was to explore the curative potential role of Camellia sinensis against uterine damages produced by sodium arsenite in mature albino rats. A dose of 10 mg of Camellia sinensis ethyl acetate (CS-EA) fraction/100 gm body weight was provided to the sodium arsenite-treated rats (10 mg/Kg body weight). LC-MS analysis was used for the detection of active component in CS-EA fraction. Enzymatic antioxidants analysis carried out by reproducible native gel technique. Hormones and some pro and anti-inflammatory markers were detected by ELISA, PCR, and western blot techniques respectively. Immunostaining was performed for the detection of estradiol receptor alpha. LC-MS analysis of CS-EA fraction ensured the presence of active tea polyphenol and tea catechin of which highest peak of epigallocatechin-3 gallate (EGCG) was obtained in this study.
