Revised ticagrelor loading amounts based on the vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein phosphorylation catalog improve the specialized medical outcome throughout ST-elevation myocardial infarction patients with higher on-treatment platelet reactivity.
ractices during intensive AML treatment among hospitals. Incorporating international nutritional standards into national guidelines by nutrition expert groups immediately upon publication may improve adherence.
Although the use of EN increased after publication of the updated ESPEN/EBMT nutritional guidelines, adherence to these standards was limited and there was heterogeneity in nutrition support practices during intensive AML treatment among hospitals. Incorporating international nutritional standards into national guidelines by nutrition expert groups immediately upon publication may improve adherence.
Patients with intestinal failure (IF) are dependent on long-term home parenteral nutrition (HPN) to ensure growth and development. The primary aim of the present study was to assess bone mineral density (BMD) and vitamin D status in paediatric IF patients on HPN and a group of healthy children aged 2-18 years. Secondary aims were to assess growth, body composition, nutrient provision and physical activity.

An observational cross-sectional study was performed at Oslo University Hospital and at the Department of Nutrition, University of Oslo, from January to September 2017. Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA; Lunar Prodigy in IF patients and Lunar iDXA in healthy subjects) was performed to assess BMD and body composition. BMD z-score (BMDz) was calculated for total body and lumbar spine L2-L4 based on the integrated reference population in the software. Weight and height were measured for growth assessment. Nutrient provision was assessed by a 4-day food record. Blood samples were analysed for 25-hydroxyr; however, body fat percentage was significantly higher in IF patients compared with healthy children (34% vs 25%, P=0.02). A lower frequency of physical activity was found in the IF group compared with the healthy group (P=0.001).

Paediatric IF patients on HPN had lower BMD, impaired growth, and higher body fat percentage in comparison with the healthy children. Despite a higher total supply of vitamin D in the IF group, the levels of 25(OH)D did not differ. Nevertheless, a significantly lower level of 1,25(OH)
D was found in IF patients. The results raise questions regarding differences between oral and parenteral vitamin D provision and whether intestinal function is important for the metabolism of vitamin D.

Hypertriglyceridaemia is both a primary cause of acute pancreatitis and an epiphenomenon. This study aimed to define the associations between hypertriglyceridaemia and clinical outcomes in patients admitted with acute pancreatitis.

This single-centre prospective observational study included patients with a confirmed clinical, biochemical or radiological diagnosis of acute pancreatitis from August 2017 to September 2018. Baseline demographics, aetiology of pancreatitis, and fasting triglyceride concentrations were recorded and assessed against the surrogate markers of severity admission to critical care, length of stay (LOS), readmission to hospital, and mortality.

In total, 304 patients with a mean±SD age of 56.1±19.7 years met the inclusion criteria. There were 217 (71.4%) patients with normotriglyceridaemia (<150mg/dL or <1.7mmol/L), 47 (15.5%) with mild hypertriglyceridaemia (150-199mg/dL or 1.7-2.25mmol/L) and 40 (13.2%) with moderate-to-severe hypertriglyceridaemia (≥200mg/dL or >2.25mmol/d LOS but not readmission or mortality.
Obesity has been associated with low 25-hydroxy-vitamin D (25OHD). The causes of hypovitaminosis D in obese individuals are not known. The present work aimed to investigate 25OHD in obese and normal-/overweight subjects with consideration of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA).

Community-dwelling old adults (N=229, 73.7±5.7yrs, 58.2% female) from the Reykjavik capital area in Iceland participated in this cross-sectional study. LTPA, vitamin D intake, body composition and background variables were assessed. 25OHD was measured in fasting blood samples.

Mean LTPA was 5.7±5.6h/week and the common activities were walking and gardening. Mean 25OHD was 66.7±28.1nmol/L and 8.5/21.2% were below 30 and 50nmol/L, respectively. Obese participants (n=84) had lower 25OHD (-11.0±3.8nmol/L,P<0.001) and lower LTPA (-2.5+0.8h/week,P=0.001) than normal-/overweight subjects (n=145). Linear models showed that LTPA (h/week) was associated with higher 25OHD in normal-/overweight participants only (1.3nmol/L, P<0.001) but not in obese (-0.7nmol, P=0.245). Fish oil intake was associated with higher 25OHD both in normal-/overweight (19.2±4.5nmol/L, P=0.001) and obese subjects (13.4±5.3nmol/L, P=0.013).

Obese community-dwelling old adults in Iceland have lower 25OHD than their normal-/overweight counterparts. LTPA was associated with a higher 25OHD in normal-/overweight, but not in obese participants. However, fish oil was associated with higher 25OHD independently from obesity status. Thus, vitamin D supplementation is important for obese old adults to maintain vitamin D levels.

A number of studies have examined the association between omentin and body weight, but the findings have been inconclusive. Here in, we systematically reviewed available observational studies to elucidate the overall relationship between omentin and body weight, by comparison of serum omentin level in overweight/obese and normal weight subjects.

PubMed, Science direct, Scopus and ISI web of science databases were searched for all available literature until January 2020 for studies assessing the association between omentin and body weight. The Newcastle-Ottawa Quality Assessment Scale was used to assess the quality of each study.

A total of 27 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in our systematic review and meta-analysis. There was a significant association between omentin serum level and body weight (Standard Mean Difference (SMD)-0.43; 95% CI,-0.70 to-0.15; P=0.002; I
=93.2%). In order to find the probable source of heterogeneity subgroup analysis based on the participants' age (adolescent, adult), gender (male, female, both gender), health status (healthy, unhealthy), geographical location (Asian, non-Asian countries), study quality (low, medium, high), study design (case-control, cross-sectional), participants' health status (healthy, unhealthy) and BMI (obese, overweight) was carried out.
