Cerebral palsy (CP) is the commonest movement disorder in childhood. C.I 58005 Clinical spectrum of CP is variable and CT scan of brain is an important mode of diagnosis and prognosis in recourse limited set up. This study was done to categorize the CT scan findings and correlate them with the type of motor disturbances of CP patients. This was a cross sectional study done in 100 children diagnosed as CP carried out in Pediatric Neurology unit, BSMMU from July 2009 to July 2010. The patients were randomly selected and CT scan was done in all the patients. Detailed history and clinical examination was done to find out the baseline characteristics, risk factors and topographic type of CP patients. Among 100 patients 92% had abnormal CT scan finding. Most common abnormality was cerebral atrophy. Maximum number of abnormal CT scan was found in quadriplegic CP (92%). Highest number of children was in 13-24 months (29%) and a slight male predominance was found. Commonest risk factor was perinatal asphyxia (75%). The brain lesions are often associated with a clinical phenotype where specific needs may be anticipated and addressed. This is important for the planning of intervention in the child with CP.Neonatal sepsis is associated with increased mortality and morbidity including prolonged hospital stay. Management of such cases is difficult, costly and need expert centers in many cases. Therefore, continued surveillance is mandatory to identify risk factors of neonatal sepsis which help optimizing its management. With the above idea, this cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted at the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in the department of Neonatology, Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH), Mymensingh, Bangladesh from July 2017 to December 2017 to observe the effects of maternal and neonatal risk factors in the development of neonatal sepsis and to determine risk factors of neonatal sepsis. Ninety four neonates (0-28 days) who were admitted in NICU with suspected sepsis were included in this study by purposive sampling technique. After admission written informed consent from parents or guardians obtained and histories were obtained including perinatal history and full physical examination of the infants were done and septic screening were sent. All the relevant information was recorded in a pre-designed questionnaire and all data were compiled, tabulated and then analyzed by SPSS version 21.0. Among 94 cases, 72.3% were preterm and 27.6% were term. There was male predominance and male/ female ratio was 1.91. Most (76.6%) of the patient admitted within 72 hours of birth. Most (83%) had low birth weight (18 hours, vaginal route of delivery, preterm birth, instrumental resuscitation, prelacteal feeding, bottle feeding were the major perinatal risk factors in this study.Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread to almost every country on the globe and it is considered by World Health Organization as a pandemic. SARS-CoV-2 causes the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Many of country are reporting the symptomatic characteristics of their cases to give better observations into the various clinical presentations of SARS-CoV-2 infection. However, the symptomatic literature is limited in Bangladesh. The aim of the study is to analyze the symptomatic characteristics of patients having the SARS-CoV-2 positive by real time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT -PCR) test. Here, the data of 146 patients who were positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus and were residents of different districts of Mymensingh region were analyzed. Patients' demographics, symptoms, history of co-morbidities condition like DM, HTN, Hypothyroid etc, travel and contact were collected from MMC Daily Reported data from April 1, 2020 to April 30, 2020. Among the total 3at people might get themselves tested.Intramedullary nailing is a pillar in the treatment of femoral shaft fractures. But it is not possible in all cases especially in comminuted fractures. This study has been designed to explain the importance of Minimally Invasive Plate Osteosynthesis (MIPO) with the locking plate in the treatment of comminuted Femoral Shaft Fracture. Twenty (20) such patients were treated by MIPO and analysis has been done in this study to get fruitful result and to find out the effectiveness of this procedure who were admitted at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, Mymensingh, a tertiary level hospital of Bangladesh from February 2018 to January 2019. Mean age of the patients were 49.20±14.41 years. Based on AO classification, there were 4, 8 and 8 patients belong to type A, B and C respectively. The union period for all the patients was in between 12 to 14 weeks. The mean union period was 12.90±1.997 weeks. Mean follow up period was 19.70±2.77 weeks. Mean full weight bearing period was 16.50±1.10 weeks. In Thoresen scoring system excellent result was 9(45%), good result was 10(20%) and fair result was 01(5%). Mal-alignment happened in two cases. However, delayed union and broken screws were found in two cases each of which was treated accordingly. Comminuted Femoral shaft fracture with MIPO procedure is more effective treatment than intramedullary nailing. Furthermore, mal-alignment is the basic complexity that must be taken away intraoperatively. The present cross-sectional analytical study was carried out to observe blood pressure and serum total cholesterol in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus. This observational study was carried out in the department of Physiology, Mymensingh Medical College, Mymensingh, Bangladesh from January 2016 to December 2016. For this purpose, 200 subjects of both sexes and age ranged from 30-60 years were selected; among them 100 were type-2 diabetic person and 100 were apparently healthy. Blood pressure and serum total cholesterol was significantly higher (p less then 0.0001) in both male and female of the study group in comparison to healthy control group. From this study, it may conclude that type-2 persons are considered to have significant positive relation for formation of hypertension, hypercholesterolemia and metabolic abnormalities that have high morbidity and mortality. So, prevention of type-2 diabetes mellitus by taking necessary steps like regular physical exercise, intake of healthy diet and behavior therapy may help in prevention of type-2 diabetes mellitus related complication.
