There are substantial gaps in our knowledge of the impact of severe influenza on perinatal outcomes, particularly in low- and middle-income countries, but preterm birth, fetal death, infant respiratory infection and hospital admission may be increased. Thus, influenza is a major burden on health services. Immunisation is cost-effective, safe and effective in preventing influenza in pregnant women and their infants but policies and uptake vary worldwide. Operational challenges and concern over the safety, efficacy and necessity of immunisation are common, and there is a lack of evidence on how to overcome these barriers. This review identifies learning points that are relevant to the current coronavirus disease-2019 pandemic through describing the epidemiology and impact of seasonal and A(H1N1)pdm09 influenza in pregnancy, alongside the effectiveness and use of immunisation.
Our objective was to present our experience with a novel technique for distal hypospadias repair consisting of deepithelialized glans reconfiguration.

We reviewed the clinical data of all patients who underwent distal hypospadias using Deepithelialized Glans Reconfiguration between January 2015 and December 2019. We noted age at surgery, position of meatus, duration of urethral catheterization and hospitalization, as well as early and late complications. Standard postoperative care included follow-up examination at 1, 6 and 12 months. Successful repair was defined as a patient presenting with a straight penis with an apical meatus, no stricture nor fistula.

Sixty-seven patients were included. Average age at surgery was 12.5 months (6-23 months). All patients presented distal hypospadias (3 glanular, 61 coronal, 3 subcoronal). 36% of patients were operated as day case surgery. No intra-operative complications were recorded. Eleven patients did not complete the designated follow up. They attended the postDeepithelialization favours rapid healing of the glans wings on the midline. There is no formal urethroplasty. The limits to this study include lack of long-term (>1 year) follow-up and uroflow. Though careful observation did not identify fistulas, the absence of functional stenosis has to be more clearly evaluated at a later age. Finally, this technique is not suitable for the completely flat glans as it relies on being able to approximate the glans ridges in the midline.

Cross-sectional examination of survey responses collected between January and May 2019 from 2,993 California WIC families with children aged 1-4 years.

Over half of WIC participants (56.1%) wanted an increase in the amount allocated for fruits and vegetables. Many WIC participants (69.6%) thought the amount of juice offered by WIC was just right. Overall, the majority (91.0%) wanted to substitute more fruits and vegetables for juice. Most were satisfied with the amount of beans (78.4%), peanut butter (78.7%), and milk (88.3%). Preferences differed by race/ethnicity.

The standard of care in the management of stage I non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has been anatomic lung resection with multistation lymph node sampling of≥ 10 lymph nodes. The 5-year survival for NSCLC has ranged from 73% to 93% (for stage IB and stage IA, respectively) and will be more favorable for patients with fewer comorbidities and those with a higher state of premorbid functioning and who undergo surgical resection. Despite the positive prognosis for operable stage I NSCLC, a subset of patients will develop metastatic disease within as few as 12 months after resection. Using an institutional database, we have presented the data from 68 patients who had developed distant metastatic recurrence after resection of pathologic stage I NSCLC within 1 year after surgery.
