Phytoplankton expansion charges inside the Amundsen Marine (Antarctica) throughout summer: The function of light.
Every 1-point increase in radiomics score was associated with a 57% increased risk of grade 2 disease. The score also showed high accuracy (AUC = 0.86 for all PNETs; AUC = 0.81 for PNETs ≤ 2 cm). The best cutoff point for maximal sensitivity and specificity was a CT radiomics score of -0.134. Decision curve analysis showed that the CT radiomics score is clinically useful. CONCLUSION. The CT radiomics score shows a significant association with the grade of nonfunctioning PNETs and provides a potentially valuable noninvasive tool for distinguishing between different grades of nonfunctioning PNET, especially among patients with tumors 2 cm or smaller.OBJECTIVE. Pediatric CT angiography (CTA) presents unique challenges compared with adult CTA. Because of the ionizing radiation exposure, CTA should be used judiciously in children. The pearls offered here are observations gleaned from the authors' experience in the use of pediatric CTA. We also present some potential follies to be avoided. CONCLUSION. Understanding the underlying principles and paying meticulous attention to detail can substantially optimize dose and improve the diagnostic quality of pediatric CTA.OBJECTIVE. The existing literature lacks research into the benefits of initial screening imaging for patients with cerebellar hemangioblastoma. We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic yield of initial screening imaging using abdominal CT and whole-spine MRI in patients with cerebellar hemangioblastoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS. This retrospective study included 117 consecutive patients with histopathologically confirmed, newly diagnosed cerebellar hemangioblastomas at a single tertiary hospital between January 2006 and October 2018. Patients underwent contrast-enhanced abdominal CT, whole-spine MRI, or both to detect abdominal and spinal lesions of von Hippel-Lindau disease. Diagnostic yields and false referral rates for initial screening imaging were determined. RESULTS. After exclusion of six patients who forewent any initial imaging, 111 patients were included (53 men [mean age ± SD, 51 ± 13 years] and 58 women [mean age, 43 ± 16 years]). The diagnostic yield of abdominal CT was 3.8% (4 of 105; 95% CI, 1.1-9.3%), whereas the false referral rate was 1.0% (1 of 105; 95% CI, 0.0-5.2%). For whole-spine MRI, the corresponding values were 5.6% (4 of 71; 95% CI, 1.6-13.8%) and 2.8% (2 of 71; 95% CI, 0.3-9.8%), respectively. The respective diagnostic yields in patients with a single cerebellar hemangioblastoma were both 0% (0 of 98 and 66, respectively). CONCLUSION. For patients with a single cerebellar hemangioblastoma, screening examinations with abdominal CT and whole-spine MRI are unnecessary before the results of genetic testing are available.OBJECTIVE. Although chest CT is the standard imaging modality in early diagnosis and management of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the use of lung ultrasound (US) presents some advantages over the use of chest CT and may play a complementary role in the workup of COVID-19. The objective of our study was to investigate US findings in patients with COVID-19 and the relationship of the US findings with the duration of symptoms and disease severity. MATERIALS AND METHODS. From March 3, 2020, to March 30, 2020, consecutive patients with a positive reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction test result for the virus that causes COVID-19 were enrolled in this study. Lung US was performed, and the imaging features were analyzed. The Fisher exact test was used to compare the percentages of patients with each US finding between groups with different symptom durations and disease severity. RESULTS. Our study population comprised 28 patients (14 men and 14 women; mean age ± SD, 59.8 ± 18.3 years; age range, 21-92 years). All 28 patients (100.0%, 28/28) had positive lung US findings. The most common findings were the following B-lines (100.0%, 28/28), consolidation (67.9%, 19/28), and a thickened pleural line (60.7%, 17/28). A thickened pleural line was observed in a higher percentage of patients with a longer duration of the disease than in those with a shorter duration of the disease, and pulmonary consolidations were more common in severe and critical cases than in moderate cases. 3-Methyladenine CONCLUSION. Typical lung US findings in patients with COVID-19 included B-lines, pulmonary consolidation, and a thickened pleural line. In addition, our results indicate that lung US findings can be be used to reflect both the infection duration and disease severity.BACKGROUND. Early diagnosis is important in the overall management of prostate cancer (PCa). Gallium-68-labeled prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT has an established role in the detection of recurrent disease and staging of patients with intermediate- to high-risk PCa. However, only a small number of studies have evaluated its role in the initial diagnosis of PCa. OBJECTIVE. This systematic review was conducted to evaluate the diagnostic performance of 68Ga-PSMA PET/CT in the initial detection of PCa in patients with clinical or biochemical findings suspicious for PCa. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION. This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines. Searches in PubMed, Scopus, and Embase were conducted using relevant keywords, and articles published through April 30, 2020, were included. Using histopathology results as the reference standard, the numbers of true- and false-positives and true- and false-negatives were extracted. Pooled estimates of diagnostic test accuracy-including sensitivity, specificial utility as a rule-out test for these patients.OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this article is to cover technical advances in musculo-skeletal ultrasound from the viewpoint of the radiologist. CONCLUSION. Among the advances in musculoskeletal ultrasound that we highlight the use of ultrahigh-frequency transducers to visualize ever-finer anatomic detail, the expanding practical clinical applications for microvascular imaging, and the use of elastography to predict function and, possibly, healing potential.OBJECTIVE. The purpose of this article is to review the emerging field of opportunistic CT, which can be used to screen patients for osteoporosis and sarcopenia. CONCLUSION. Although body composition measurements are not routinely obtained using CT, quantitative assessment of bone and muscle biomarkers on CT can add value to patient care. Automated bone and muscle measurements promise to transform the everyday practice of radiology without resulting in additional cost or radiation exposure for patients.
