One thing to bear in mind is that while this crib is perfect for infants, it will not last long once your little one turns six months old, and you'll have to purchase a bigger cot. Overall, Roanna found that the Joie Roomie Glide was a very good purchase and she especially liked its elegant design.

The Roomie Glide is available to purchase from John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna thought was a reasonable cost for a cot that has these innovative features. She liked the way it was positioned in her bedroom and thought the grey color would work in the majority of modern homes. She did mention that it's not a good idea to rock a baby in the early years because it can cause a bad sleep pattern for later.

It took her about 10 minutes to assemble it and didn't require tools, with clear instructions and a video or support contact number should you encounter any issues.

It can be used as a changing station, cot or toddler bed. It can also be transformed into a sofa bed with the addition of an extension pack. While it won't be able to magically make your baby sleep or feed them, it can rock them and send them off.

The Chicco Next2Me Magic

This is one of the more expensive alternatives. However, it has numerous excellent features. It can be used either a side-sleeper, or a standalone crib and is suitable for babies from birth to six months. It's easy to open and close the side panel thanks to a brand new mechanism. It's also more flexible than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels and feet that retract to place under any bed.

Our testers were impressed with the simple access the side panel provides that can be moved up and down at the touch of a button. This was a huge benefit in feedings at night because it meant they could easily reach inside and pick up their baby without disturbing them up.

The side panel can be lifted on its own, but it's not recommended as this increases the risk of your child falling out of the cot. The patented safety locking system ensures that the side panel will remain in place if it's properly attached to the parent's mattress. It's also extremely spacious and provides excellent ventilation thanks to its mesh sides.

Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, though it does have quite an extensive instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than other side-sleepers but it's easily moved from one room to another. It can also be folded up into its travel bag, which is great for those who want to transport it. The only negative our testers have found is that the side panel did not flex as much compared to other models. This caused it to be a bit more difficult to see your baby from your bed.

The Shnuggle Air

The Shnuggle Air bedside crib is a great choice for a crib that grows with your child. It is designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that is attached to your bed and transform into a stylish cot once your baby is ready, it's ideal for feeding your baby at night and fostering a bond with your baby.

A gentle incline option helps to ease reflux and colic and colic, while the zip-down side allows you to feed or soothe your baby throughout the night.

The conversion kit for cots (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear instructions and everything you require to get started. It took us around an hour to put together and was relatively simple. The only downside to the instructions was that certain pictures did not have captions. This made it difficult to follow. However, it was a simple procedure and the quality of materials employed was of a high standard.

The Shnuggle Air is a great choice for mothers who are breastfeeding or have had a c-section. It allows them to reach out and touch their baby for comfort and feeding without leaving their bed. It's also great for mothers who want to avoid the difficulty of getting in and out of a traditional cot, or putting their baby down for a nap.

During our testing, we found the gliding motion of the next-to-me crib to be particularly beneficial in getting babies to sleep after midday and nighttime feeds. The drop-down side is also easily accessed to feed or calm babies in the middle of the night this was a huge benefit for our exhausted test moms. Although it doesn't rock or have additional features, like a sound machine, the Joie Roomie Glide's sleek design and functionality make it a great addition to our top bedside crib reviews.
