The Americas committed to strengthening maternal and neonatal immunization (MNI) through the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Regional Immunization Action Plan (RIAP) 2016-20. We describe the progress toward RIAP MNI-related targets and those related to improvement of data quality and information systems; analyze national MNI policies and vaccination coverages; and identify enablers and challenges of monitoring and reporting MNI vaccination coverage in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

Descriptive study of national MNI policies, vaccination coverage, and information systems. Sources of information included PAHO-World Health Organization (WHO) / UNICEF Joint Reporting Forms on immunization (JRF) 2013-2019, and other reports.

LAC has met two of three RIAP targets related to MNI (countries with universal hepatitis B birth dose introduction and elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus) and is on track to meet the other (countries with vaccination of pregnant women). As of 2018, of the 49 coutimely and effective vaccination strategies.
Despite progress in improving MNI in LAC, countries must further strengthen immunization monitoring systems and data quality to better report vaccination coverage among pregnant women and newborns. EIR and MNI information systems must be integrated, such that countries can use accurate data to design more timely and effective vaccination strategies.
Decisions about influenza vaccination for fall-winter 2020 were made against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. During May 2020, the authors examined intended vaccination in the next 12months in relationship to demographic variables, healthcare attitudes, and personal COVID-19 experiences for two samples of adults--those who did not receive influenza vaccine during the prior 12months, and those who did.

In May 2020, a cross-sectional online survey was conducted with a national US sample. Participants reported prior influenza vaccination (yes/no during prior 12months) and anticipated vaccination (yes/no during next 12months). Covariates included demographic characteristics (e.g., gender, race-ethnicity, political ideology), general beliefs (e.g., benefits of vaccines, altruistic attitudes), and COVID-19 health beliefs and experiences (COVID-19 worry and severity, perception of COVID-19 as a community threat, knowing someone with COVID-19). For each group, hierarchical multivariable logistic regression action for influenza vaccination intention among some prior non-vaccinators whereas intention among prior vaccinators is more related to positive attitudes toward vaccination.
The COVID-19 pandemic may have served as a cue to action for influenza vaccination intention among some prior non-vaccinators whereas intention among prior vaccinators is more related to positive attitudes toward vaccination.Cellular senescence has a critical role in many physiopathological contexts. Recent studies highlight the beneficial and adverse effects that eliminating senescent endothelial cells can have on health span, questioning the current development of drugs that induce the death of senescent cells, named senolytics, as a therapeutic strategy.
Appropriate fluid balance in the perioperative period is important as both hypo- and hypervolemia are associated with increased risk of complications. Women undergoing cytoreductive surgery (CRS) for advanced epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) may have major fluid shifts. The optimal perioperative fluid balance in these women is yet to be determined. https://www.selleckchem.com/ Our objective was to investigate the association between perioperative fluid balance and major postoperative complications.

Women with advanced stage EOC who underwent surgery at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, Sweden were identified from the institutional database. Women subjected to surgery with curative intent were included in the analysis. Additional data were retrieved from medical records. The association between perioperative fluid balance and major postoperative complications was investigated by multivariable regression and adjusted for predefined confounders.

Of the 270 women identified in the institutional database during 2014-2017, 184 women were included in the analyses. Of these women, 22% (n=40) experienced a major postoperative complication. The fully adjusted odds of major postoperative complications increased when perioperative fluid balance exceeded >3000mL, (Odds Ratio (OR) 4.85, 95% Confidence Interval (CI) 1.23-19.2, p=0.02) and>5000mL (OR 33.7, 95% CI 4.13-275, p<0.01). There was no association between negative fluid balance and major postoperative complications (OR 3.33, 95% CI 0.25-44.1, p=0.36).

Fluid balance >3000mL perioperatively during surgery for advanced EOC increased the odds of major postoperative complications. Management of perioperative fluid balance in advanced EOC surgery remains a challenge.

Polymerase-ε (POLE)-mutated endometrial carcinomas (ECs) have displayed an increased number of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) compared to POLE-wild-type ECs. However, it is unclear if TIL may aid in identifying POLE-mutated ECs when molecular data are unavailable. The identification of a POLE mutation surrogate may be crucial to translate TCGA/ProMisE risk assessment in the clinical practice.

To assess TIL as histological surrogate of POLE mutation in EC.

Seven electronic databases were searched from their inception to September 2020 for studies that allowed data extraction about TIL and TCGA/ProMisE groups of EC. We calculated pooled sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative likelihood ratios (LR+ and LR-), diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) and area under the curve (AUC) on SROC curves of TIL in distinguishing POLE-mutated from i) POLE-wild-type, ii) no specific molecular profile (NSMP), iii) POLE-wild-type/MMR-proficient, iii) MMR-deficient ECs.

10 studies assessing 1169 women were included inalgorithm to identify POLE-mutated ECs when sequencing is unavailable. Further studies are necessary in this regard.
