This study aimed to review qualitative studies on perceptions of home cooking. A systematic search was conducted in Scopus and SciELO databases using English and Portuguese terms related to home cooking, without date or language restrictions. Twenty-six articles, published between 2004 and 2017, investigated, whether as a primary objective or as a secondary finding, the perceptions of individuals on home cooking. More than half of the studies were conducted in English-speaking countries. Study participants included women and men, adults and seniors as well as residents of urban and rural areas, Eastern and Western countries, and developing and developed nations. Thematic analysis showed that home cooking has different interpretations and meanings in diverse contexts and revealed differences in how individuals plan and cook their meals at home. Cognitive, practical, affective, and emotional factors are the major motivators to home meal preparation. Having a cooking role model in the family, cooking confidence and skills, and living alone were reported as facilitators of home cooking. A better understanding of the heterogeneity of perceptions and meanings of home cooking can contribute to the development of effective and culturally appropriate interventions for stimulating healthy cooking habits.Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is among the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in developing countries; however, few systematic reviews are available in the literature. This review examines the prevalence of COPD in the Brazilian population. For this purpose, a systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted of epidemiological observational studies indexed in the databases PubMed, Cochrane, Ovid, Scopus, ScienceDirect, SciELO, Lilacs, and Google Scholar published up to May 2018. The prevalence was estimated using a random effects model. Of the 1,182 articles identified, 12 were eligible. The prevalence of COPD in Brazil was 17% (95%CI 13-22; I2 = 94%) and the region with the highest prevalence of COPD was the Center-western region (25%), followed by the Southeastern region (23%). The Southern region had the lowest prevalence among the studies (12%). We found that Brazil has a high occurrence of COPD, higher than the estimates of Latin American and world population Hence, additional studies are necessary to support intervention strategies, as well as formulation of specific public health policies to control and prevent COPD.This study analyzes the meanings attributed to the concept of the medicalization of childbirth from a narrative review of the literature in national journals published between 2000 and 2017. It is based on the more general concept of medicalization - understood as the process by which medicine broadens and consolidates its area of activity in the various sectors of society - and the different formulations of the concept conceived by twentieth-century scholars. Five categories were created that related the medicalization of childbirth with interventions, professional dispute, violation of the rights of pregnant women, the birth scenario, and the impact of the medicalization of society. In the first four categories there is a predominance of meanings that explore the interface between medicalization and humanization, considered two analytical super categories, with a predominance of a critique of the medicalized model. Setting aside this analysis model, the medicalization of childbirth category as a reflection of the medicalization of society focuses on a sense of medicalization of childbirth as part of a broader process involving different actors who are part of the care process, pointing to a possibility of more in-depth analysis in which it considers the complex connection between modern health and society. The territorialization of Primary Health Care is an important social and political process for the implementation of the constitutional principles of the Unified Health System (SUS) in Brazil. The SUS is essentially a nationwide care project, organized into regionalized care networks, with its command center in Primary Health Care (PHC). For this reason, the territorialization reflects the desired model of care that is proposed in Brazil. However, even though almost thirty years have elapsed since the constitutional edict, this nationwide care project has not yet been fully implemented. The scope of this text is to reflect on the political and ideological processes of the territorialization of PHC of the SUS in Brazil and put forward some reasons that explain the difficulties of implementing this model of nationwide care. Enormous difficulties were observed in the unification of the Brazilian care model, while financial constraints worked against the strategic discourse surrounding Family Health, and recent regulations disrupted territorialized forms of work and can broaden the fragmentation of PHC in the country. The scope of this integrative review of the literature was to assess if the Kangaroo-Mother Care Method as implemented in Brazil, from the first stage to outpatient follow-up, has an influence on breastfeeding. Brazilian research published in national and international journals in Portuguese, English or Spanish in the leading research databases between the years 2000 to 2017 was included, with full articles available and theme related to the scope of this study. A total of 1328 articles were located and articles not conducted in Brazil, literature review articles and themes not related to the Kangaroo-Mother Care Method were excluded, with 21 studies eventually being selected. The research results indicated a positive influence of the Kangaroo-Mother Care Method on breastfeeding and establishing a mother-child bond. However, the third stage or outpatient follow-up proved not to be effective in maintaining breastfeeding. Greater participation of primary care in home care provided to preterm newborns is necessary, with a view to promoting exclusive breastfeeding up to six months of age and extended up to two years of age. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the FunFRIENDS protocol on anxiety symptoms, internalizing problems and prosocial behavior in 4- to 5-year old children. Participated of this study 43 children with an allocation ratio of 11 between groups (Intervention Group [IG], N = 21; Control Group [CG], N = 22) from a public school in the city of Sao Paulo participated in the study. Behaviors were evaluated by using standardized questionnaires (PAS, CBCL, SDQ, SCBE) assessing the behavioral profile of the children at three different periods; baseline (T0), one month (T1) and three months (T2) after the intervention. Tacrolimus order It was observed a reduction in the intensity of anxiety symptoms in the IG after the intervention but with no significant effect. Overall, there were no significant differences between the IG and the CG in most behaviors on all periods evaluated. On both Intention-to-Treat analyses also it was not detected significant effects of the intervention. This is the first Brazilian study evaluating the effects of FunFRIENDS program and the implications of these findings are discussed and its significance for future research.
