Patients with cirrhosis have a high symptom burden, significant comorbidities, and a range of psychological and cognitive issues. Patients with cirrhosis were assessed for their readiness and interest in e-health. Adults attending one of two outpatient cirrhosis clinics in Alberta were recruited. Eligible participants were not required to own or have experience with digital technologies or the Internet. Of the 117 recruited patients, 68.4% owned a computer and 84.6% owned a mobile device. Patients had mean proficiency scores of 72.8% (SD 25.9%) and 69.3% (SD 26.4%) for these devices, respectively. In multiple regression analyses, significant predictors of device proficiency were age, education, and household income. Most patients (78.7%) were confident they could participate in videoconferencing after training and most (61.5%) were interested in an online personalized health management program. This diverse group of patients with cirrhosis had technology ownership, proficiency, and online behaviours similar to the general population. By leveraging summary statistics, we proposed MAGIC to evaluate the trans-ethnic marginal genetic correlation (rm) of per-allele effect sizes for associated SNPs (P  less then  5E-8) under the framework of measurement error models. We confirmed the methodological advantage of MAGIC over general approaches through simulations and demonstrated its utility by analyzing 34 GWAS summary statistics of phenotypes from the East Asian (Nmax = 254,373) and European (Nmax = 1,220,901) populations. Among these phenotypes, rm was estimated to range from 0.584 (se = 0.140) for breast cancer to 0.949 (se = 0.035) for age of menarche, with an average of 0.835 (se = 0.045). We also uncovered that the trans-ethnic genetic prediction accuracy for phenotypes in the target population would substantially become low when using associated SNPs identified in non-target populations, indicating that associations discovered in the one population cannot be simply generalized to another population and that the accuracy of trans-ethnic phenotype prediction is generally dissatisfactory. The analysis was based on data from the population-based KORA Myocardial Infarction Registry located in the region of Augsburg, Germany. All cases of AMI (n = 210) admitted to one of four hospitals in the city of Augsburg or the county of Augsburg from February 10th, 2020, to May 19, 2020, were included. Patients were divided into three groups, namely pre-lockdown, strict lockdown, and attenuated lockdown period. An additional survey was conducted asking the patients for stress and fears in the 4 weeks prior to their AMI. The AMI rate declined by 44% in the strict lockdown period; in the attenuated lockdown period the rate was 17% lower compared to the pre-lockdown period. The downward trend in AMI rates during lockdown was seen in STEMI and NSTEMI patients, and independent of sex and age. The door-to-device time decreased by 70-80% in the lockdown-periods. In the time prior to the infarction, patients felt stressed mainly due to fear of infection with Sars-CoV-2 and less because of the restrictions and consequences of the lockdown. A strict lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic had a marked impact on AMI care even in a non-hot-spot region with relatively few cases of COVID-19. Fear of infection with the virus is presumably the main reason for the drop in hospitalizations due to AMI.
