Bedside Cot Reviews
A bedside crib (also called a bassinet) is located next to your bed, to allow you to be able to tend to your baby during feedings at night and diaper changes without having to get out of the bed. They are also ideal for creating independence as your child gets more comfortable in their own bed.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide is a bedside crib that allows parents to sleep together with their baby while making sure they're safe. Its smooth gliding motion can help ease your baby's sleep and its unique features allow you to keep an eye on your baby without leaving the bed.
The side panel that slides out of the crib can be raised and lowered with just a push of a single button. This makes it easy to reach inside and soothe a crying baby in the night. It also has 11 height adjustments that let it accommodate the mattress of nearly any size bed and it includes adjustable folding feet to make sure that it's placed at just the right height.
The cot is padded, has mesh sides that allow for more the airflow, and the mattress is made of high-density, foam to provide extra protection. It's also washable, so you can keep the cot clean. It is fitted with a mattress sheet that is suitable for a crib.
Contrary to other cribs that are bedside like the Roomie Glide is suitable for all beds, including divans due to its straps and clip attachment. It can be used as a stand-alone crib when it is not connected to the bed. It comes with a variety of wonderful features designed with parent and baby bonding in mind.
One thing to bear in mind is that even though this crib is great for babies, it won't last long once your child is six months old, so you'll require a bigger cot. Overall, Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide crib was an excellent purchase. She was impressed by its sleek design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna felt was a reasonable cost for a cot that has the most innovative features. She liked how it looked in her bedroom, and thought the grey color would work in the majority of modern homes. She did mention that it's not an ideal idea to rock a baby when it's younger as it can cause a bad sleep pattern for later.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee bedside crib is designed to give you a good night's rest. It has an adjustable side rail that can be easily lifted to feed your child during the night without disturbing them or forcing them out of the bed. baby bedside co sleeper is great for mothers who breastfeed! It's also lightweight, making it easy to move around the house during nap time and for travelling.
It's made of soft materials and features breathable mesh sides to promote airflow. It's available in charcoal and oak, with a range of melange fabric options that blend well with most decor styles. Anna found that it was sturdy and secure once attached to her bed. The legs slid into place and the zippers were secured to ensure security. It took her about 10 minutes to assemble and didn't require any tools, with clear instructions and a video as well as a customer support contact number should you encounter any issues.
Alongside the usual features you'd expect from a bedside crib, like being able to attach to your existing bed using a stay-in-place connection system and six height levels The CoZee comes with an additional incline option that can be used to alleviate reflux or congestion in infants. It's also machine-washable, which is a must with all the dribble, vomit and snot that come with having a baby!
The CoZee is a great option if you want to keep your child in the first six months of learning to fall asleep independently. It can be used as a cot, changing station and toddler bed. With the addition of a sofa bed extension kit, it can be converted into an bed. While it won't magically bring your baby to sleep or feed them, it will rock them and send them off.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of the more expensive alternatives. However, it comes with numerous great features. It can be used either a side-sleeper, or a standalone crib and is suitable for babies from birth to six months. It comes with a new mechanism to open and close the side panel. It's easy to use even with one hand. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, having 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to installation under any bed.
Our testers loved the easy access to the side panel that can be flipped up and down by pressing one button. This was a huge help in feedings at night because it meant they could easily reach in and take their baby away without disturbing them.
It is possible to lower the side panel itself, but this isn't recommended as it increases the risk that your child could be thrown out of the cot. The patented safety locking system makes sure that the side panel will only stay down if it is attached correctly to the parent's mattress. This is a wonderful feature to have for peace of mind, especially in the case of breastfeeding and frequent nighttime feedings.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic is designed to work with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers due to the legs that telescopic. It also has an option to tilt for babies with reflux and a rocking feature to bring them back to sleep after eating. It is also very spacious and provides excellent ventilation due to its mesh sides.
The Next2Me Magic was easy to use and set up for our test subjects despite the lengthy instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than other side-sleepers, however it's quite portable and can be moved from room to room easily. It's also small enough to fit in a travel bag when not in use, which is a bonus if you need to transport it. The only thing our testers found is that the side panel didn't stretch as much as other models. This made it a bit harder to observe your baby from the bed.
The Shnuggle Air
If you're in search of a bedside crib that will grow with your child, then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth a look. It's a crib for co-sleeping that is securely attached to your bed and can be converted into a chic cot when your baby is old enough. It is ideal for feeding your baby at night and strengthening the bond you have with your new born.
The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, which is different from other models. The mesh side panels with dual-view and airflow mattress that is hypoallergenic and breathable maximize airflow and keep your baby cool and comfortable. A gentle incline option helps to reduce colic and reflux, while the zip down side allows you to feed or comfort your baby throughout the night.
The kit for converting cots is also well-designed, with clear instructions. It includes everything you need. It took us an hour to put together and was surprisingly simple. The only issue with the instructions was that some images were not captioned. This made it difficult for us to follow the instructions. Overall, the process was easy and the materials used were of high quality.
In co-sleeping mode we discovered the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent option for breastfeeding mothers and women who have had a C-section, since it allows them to easily reach out to their baby for feeding and comfort without having to leave their bed. It's also great for mothers who prefer not to go through the difficulty of getting into and out of a traditional cot, or placing their child down to sleep.
The motion of gliding was found to be very helpful in lulling babies to sleep following feedings during the midday or at night. The drop-down sides make it easy to feed or soothe babies during the night. This was a big selling point for our tired test mums. While it doesn't rock or have extra features such as a sound machine, the Joie Roomie Slide's sleek design and functionality are a welcome addition our top bedside crib reviews.
