Results indicated those young adults that consume pornography more frequently were more likely to experience higher levels of sexual arousal to the erotic video than those who reported little or no use. However, after controlling for several variables significantly related to sexual coercion, arousal did not mediate willingness to engage in verbal or illegal sexual coercive behaviors. Other significant results and implications are discussed. Objective This study evaluated the efficacy of a mindfulness-enhanced behavioral parent training (BPT) group program compared to standard BPT in families of children with ADHD. Method Parents (N = 63) of children (aged 6-11) diagnosed with ADHD were randomly assigned to either mindful or standard BPT, and participated in 12 weekly 2-hr group sessions. Parents completed a series of questionnaires assessing mindful parenting, parenting stress, harsh discipline practices, behavioral dysregulation, and child ADHD symptoms, before and after completing the group intervention. Artenimol mouse Results Parents in the mindful group had decreased harsh discipline practices and improved self-regulation compared to parents in the standard group. Both groups improved in parenting sense of competence and child ADHD symptoms. No significant group differences were found in mindful parenting or parenting stress. Conclusion There are some important parental benefits to enhancing BPT with mindfulness. This study investigates research integrity among PhD students in health sciences at three universities in Scandinavia (Stockholm, Oslo, Odense). A questionnaire with questions on knowledge, attitudes, experiences, and behavior was distributed to PhD students and obtained a response rate of 77.7%. About 10% of the respondents agreed that research misconduct strictly defined (such as fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism, FFP) is common in their area of research, while slightly more agreed that other forms of misconduct is common. A nonnegligible segment of the respondents was willing to fabricate, falsify, or omit contradicting data if they believe that they are right in their overall conclusions. Up to one third reported to have added one or more authors unmerited. Results showed a negative correlation between "good attitudes" and self-reported misconduct and a positive correlation between how frequent respondents thought that misconduct occurs and whether they reported misconduct themselves. This reveals that existing educational and research systems partly fail to foster research integrity.Poly(zwitterions) polymer brushes were fabricated by surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization (SI-ATRP) on PVA substrate. The results of XPS and FTIR proved the successful graft of CBMA and SBMA to PVA. The surface of the PVA films would be rougher after the functionalization. Its hydrophilicity increased dramatically and the water contact angle decreased from 45.2° to 7.2°. The visible light transmittance was above 88%. Mechanical properties decreased slightly after grafting, the tensile strength and tensile strain at break were in 1.23-1.85 MPa and 361.7-471.1%, respectively. The anti-protein adsorption performance of the modified PVA film was significantly enhanced and the lowest adsorption amount was up to 2.25 μg/cm2. The cytotoxicity grade of modified PVA film was 0-1, which indicated the modified film possessed no cytotoxicity. Additionally, the surface of zwitterion-grafted PVA film had strongly resistance to cell adhesion. All the results confirmed that the zwitterions modified PVA was a promising anti-fouling material for the further biomedical use.Experiencing child maltreatment is a risk factor for later psychopathology; however, not all survivors of child maltreatment go on to develop mental health diagnoses. There are likely important risk factors that act as moderators interacting with child maltreatment to contribute to the development of psychopathology. The present study examined the attachment dimensions of anxiety and avoidance as potential moderators in the association between child maltreatment and depressive symptomatology in a sample of college students. An attachment style high in anxiety or avoidance was expected to exacerbate the effect of child maltreatment on depressive symptomatology across both primary and secondary caregiver attachment relationships. This study was conducted at a private university in the northeastern United States in a sample of college students (N = 203; 52% male; Mage = 19.85, SDage = 2.19). Participants completed online measures of attachment, current mood symptoms, and demographic information. Two moderation models were tested, one for attachment to primary caregivers and one for attachment to secondary caregivers. Anxious attachment to primary caregivers moderated the relationship between child maltreatment and depressive symptoms (B = -0.16, p less then .01, R2 =.44). However, moderation was not significant in the secondary caregiver attachment relationship. Maladaptive attachment styles, as well as child maltreatment itself, may result in disruptions in the development of positive internal working models of the self and others and adaptive emotion regulation. In cases of child maltreatment, interventions focused on the parent-child attachment relationship may have long-lasting effects and implications for the child's future mental health. This research highlights important areas of intervention in cases of child maltreatment as well as important differences in the anxiety and avoidance dimensions of attachment. Background Ischemic stroke (IS) is a major public health issue causing mortality and disability and is more difficult to treat than other cerebral diseases. Previous study reported that miR-376a was upregulated in the serum of stroke patients, indicating that miR-376a played potential role in occurrence and development of stroke. Methods IS cell model was induced by oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) exposed HCMEC/D3 cells. The mRNA level of SNHG1, miR-376a and inflammatory cytokines were detected by q-PCR. Protein level of CBS, apoptotic proteins were examined by Western blot. Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry, and H2S level was measured by kit. Interaction among lncRNA, miRNA and target gene was validated by luciferase assay. Results Our research revealed that mRNA level of SNHG1 and CBS in HCMEC/D3 cells was downregulated while miR-376a was upregulated under OGD conditions. Further results demonstrated that miR-376a overexpression promoted apoptosis and inflammation while SNHG1 overexpressing alleviated such processes.
