Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning dry and wet messes in one go, without having to switch devices. They can also save space when compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the most recent version of Roborock's flagship robot vacuum and mop, is the most recent version. In contrast to the model of last year this one has a double agitator in its mopping pad, which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. This is the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed but it's also feature-packed. Its sleek angular design is eye catching and comes with three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which resumes the cleaning mop function, a button for cleaning that doubles as a child-lock and a home button to send the robot to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank will empty itself and the bin auto-refilling.

The only issue I have discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if necessary) but it's a challenge to remove the mount itself to wash it manually. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will come into contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these smart features. It also has maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's life. You'll need to jump through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. It's a shame, considering how efficient it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

Contrary to other robots, which are restricted to a single task, the X40 can vacuum and mop at the same time. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas or reverse the process. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or via Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is easy to use and intuitive, and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, look at mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress, and alert you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to keep clean and has numerous features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin into a large 3.2 L bin, washes the mop pads, then refills them with fresh water and cleaning solution. It also can detect when the mop pad is overflowing and notify you when it gets overflowing, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models on the market. It has many characteristics that make it stand out. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to scrub floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can remove pet hair and smaller dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.


The mop mops are cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used.
