In total, 122 cases of CIUE in 102 patients were included in the study. Microscopic classification based on one criterion was easy to perform, and interobserver correlation was good. Grade 3 infiltration was strongly associated with poor perinatal outcomes and fetal growth restriction (P less then 0.0001). After delivery, only 16.1% of newborns from the grade 3 CIUE group were alive, compared with 59% from the grade 2 and 86.5% from the grade 1 group (P=0.0002). Recurrence risk was associated with CIUE gradation of the index case (P=0.004), with 95% of recurrent CIUE cases being from patients with grades 2 and 3 CIUE. In this study, conducted with the largest CIUE cohort to date, a classification based only on the degree of macrophagic infiltration of the intervillous space was validated, and this classification was shown to be strongly associated with poor perinatal outcomes and risk of recurrence.
Health care providers and educators play critical roles in supporting healthy sexuality development for youth with autism spectrum disorder. There is limited information about the sexual behavior of these youth, especially girls, and about their access to sexuality education or health care services.
This study addressed these gaps by surveying parents of youth with autism aged 12-18 years (N = 298, 52.7% boys) with a range of intellectual functioning.
According to parent report, most youth experienced sexual attraction and were interested in relationships, including same-sex attraction or relationships (13.2%). Girls were more likely than boys to have had a romantic relationship and less likely to have experienced school or legal consequences for sexual behavior. Around one-fifth of youth had engaged in a socially inappropriate sexual behavior, whereas 6.4% had a known sexual abuse history and 14.5% were bullied by peers for lack of sexual knowledge. Almost 40% received no sex education in school or in s.Fistulas are abnormal connections between 2 epithelial-lined structures. Thoracic fistulas may result from nonanatomic communications between spaces within the thorax, such as the lung, tracheobronchial tree, pleural space, and mediastinal structures, or between thoracic spaces and extrathoracic structures, such as the gastrointestinal tract. Furthermore, thoracic fistulas may result in communication between thoracic spaces and the spine or vascular structures. Gefitinib nmr Potential causes include trauma, infection, neoplasm, surgical intervention, or medical syndromes. In this article, we discuss various acquired thoracic fistulas and their potential causes, key multimodality imaging manifestations, and clinical significance.
It is important for faculty to prepare nurse practitioner students for their first clinical experiences to ensure student success.
The purpose of this project was to implement a preclinical immersion and determine student perceptions about this experience.
A half-day preclinical immersion was instituted at the beginning of the family nurse practitioner students' first clinical course. Demographic information and survey data were obtained before the preclinical immersion experience, after completion of the immersion experience, and during the last 2 weeks of the first clinical course.
Students' ratings of their clinical skills and knowledge improved during the duration of the semester for 5 of the 7 items. Directed content analysis revealed 3 themes understanding of clinical expectations, face-to-face interactions with faculty, and cognitive/emotional clinical perceptions.
The use of preclinical immersion experiences may both practically and emotionally prepare students for graduate nursing clinical experiences.

Minimal evidence compares nursing student outcomes when replacing clinical hours with manikin-based high-fidelity patient simulation (HFPS) or virtual simulation.
The study aims were to compare differences in outcomes (1) between 2 intervention groups (HFPS or virtual simulation) when replacing 25% of pediatric/obstetrics clinical hours and (2) pass/fail for clinical practice between the intervention groups and a face-to-face clinical group (control).
A quasi-experimental study was conducted to determine differences in knowledge between intervention groups participating in 6 pediatric/obstetrics simulation scenarios.
No differences in composite knowledge were found between simulation groups (P = .319). There also was no difference in clinical practice pass/fail among the groups.
HFPS and virtual simulation were equally effective in achieving learning goals.

To determine longitudinal change in sedentary behavior in children with cerebral palsy (CP) from 1.5 to 12 years.
Ninety-one children, Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) levels I to III, who participated in a large longitudinal cohort study were participants. Longitudinal change was analyzed in objectively measured sedentary behavior and associations with sex, body mass index Z score, and socioeconomic status. Moderate-vigorous intensity physical activity (MVPA) was estimated at 8 to 12 years.
Average sedentary minutes/day peaked at 4 years in children at GMFCS I and 5 years in children at GMFCS II to III, then plateaued. Male sex was associated with increased sedentary behavior. At 8 to 12 years, children at GMFCS I, II, and III accumulated on average 54, 47, and 14 minutes/day, respectively, of MVPA.
When measured to 12 years, sedentary behavior peaks by 5 years for children with CP who are walking with differences in trajectory according to GMFCS.

To examine interrelationships among Vestibular/Ocular-Motor Screen (VOMS) items and to characterize the recovery of VOMS performance in a sample of adolescents treated with vestibular physical therapy (VPT) after concussion.
Seventy-seven patients with concussion and 77 participants without concussion completed the study. Adolescents with concussion received an individualized VPT intervention consisting of targeted exercises for gaze stability, postural stability, ocular-motor control, habituation, and aerobic activities. The exercises were performed during a weekly clinic visit and via a home exercise program.
Except for near-point convergence distance, all VOMS items were significantly interrelated. Over the course of VPT, significant improvements in VOMS performance were observed, and discharge scores were similar to scores observed in adolescents without concussion.
The VOMS measured moderately related functions and captured changes over the course of VPT. Clinicians should consider the contextual risk of "false positive" in their interpretation of VOMS.
