Interestingly, the phenolic units are found to be connected by only β-5, β-1, and β-O-4 linkages. The phenolic unit abundance is approximately 20 %. The result reveals that lignin polymerization terminates with the three linkages by a coupling between a monomer and the polymer terminus, which is reasonably explained by the radical coupling mechanism. Unexpectedly, 5-5, 4-O-5, and β-β linkages connecting the phenolic units are not detected, indicating that these units are further elongated to form nonphenolic units. This study reveals the linkage types connecting phenolic and nonphenolic units and their elongation mechanisms.Electrochemical energy storage has been regarded as one of the most promising strategies for next-generation energy consumption. To meet the increasing demands of urban electric vehicles, development of green and efficient charging technologies by exploitation of solar energy should be considered for outdoor charging in the future. Herein, a light-sensitive material (copper foam-supported copper oxide/nickel copper oxides nanosheets arrays, namely CF@CuOx @NiCuOx NAs) with hierarchical nanostructures to promote electrochemical charge storage is specifically fabricated. The as-fabricated NAs have demonstrated a high areal specific capacity of 1.452 C cm-2 under light irradiation with a light power of 1.76 W, which is 44.8% higher than the capacity obtained without light. Such areal specific capacity (1.452 C cm-2 ) is much higher than that of the conventional supercapacitor structure using a similar active redox component reported recently (NiO nanosheets array@Co3 O4 -NiO FTNs maximum areal capacity of 623.5 mF cm-2 at 2 mA cm-2 ). This photo-enhancement for charge storage can be attributed to the combination of photo-sensitive Cu2 O and pseudo-active NiO components. Hence, this work may provide new possibilities for direct utilization of sustainable solar energy to realize enhanced capability for energy storage devices.
This study aimed to investigate and determine the precise causal association between body mass index (BMI) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) using a regression discontinuity design (RDD).

The cross-sectional data of 8550 participants were from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) in 2015. Influencing factors with statistically significant were selected with logistic regression analysis, and a risk prediction model was established to obtain the risk of individuals suffering from T2DM. RDD was performed with BMI as the grouping variable and the risk of individuals suffering from T2DM as the outcome variable.

The predictive factors in the T2DM risk prediction model were age, gender, BMI, habitation, education, physical activity level, preference for sugary beverages, walking, self-evaluation health status and history of hypertension. The AUC (area under receiver operating characteristic curve) of the T2DM risk prediction model was 0.849 (95% CI 0.833, 0.866). BMI was an independent risk factor for T2DM (OR=1.109, p<0.001); at BMI=31 kg/m

To quantify association between in utero/peripartum antiretroviral (IPA) exposure and cognition, i.e. executive function (EF) and socioemotional adjustment (SEA), in school-aged Ugandan children who were perinatally HIV-infected (CPHIV, n=100) and children who were HIV-exposed but uninfected (CHEU, n=101).

Children were enrolled at age 6-10years and followed for 12months from March 2017 to December 2018. Caregiver-reported child EF and SEA competencies were assessed using validated questionnaires at baseline, 6 and 12months. IPA-related standardized mean differences (SMDs) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) in cognitive competencies were estimated from regression models with adjustment for caregiver sociodemographic and contextual factors. Models were fitted separately for Ccted, on average, lower executive dysfunction 6-10 years later. To verify the potential role of vitamin D in the pathogenesis of viral warts by measuring the serum levels of vitamin D in patients diagnosed with viral warts compared to healthy controls and to verify whether oral vitamin D supplementation of those vitamin D-deficient patients would result in wart clearance.

To evaluate the serum vitamin D levels, the study recruited 80 subjects, including 40 patients diagnosed with viral warts and 40 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. All patients were subjected to detailed history taking and examination to detect duration and type of warts. Serum vitamin D levels were measured using ELISA.

Thirty-five percent of patients had sufficient vitamin D levels (54-90nmol/L), and 40% of patients had insufficient levels (50-80nmol/L), while 25% of them had deficient levels (<50nmol/L). In healthy group, 30% had sufficient levels, and 45% had insufficient levels, while 25% had deficient levels.
