and practically useful. (6) Most of the respondents are characterized by careful answers to points concerning the use of dishonest strategies in online learning and the belief that dishonest strategies using is inevitable. Perhaps this is a reflection of their life experiences or an excuse for their own dishonest strategies. This problem requires further investigation. An advanced insight into characterizing stripe rust progress curves is required to improve accuracy and efficiency of future research for disease measurement and estimation purposes. The rate of stripe rust increase in wheat crops is highly variable, resulting in variations and uncertainties in evaluating disease progress over time. This variability was described by fitting standard curves to disease severity data collected over a four-season experiment to identify effective disease curve elements in Iranian wheat cultivars planted at different dates. Gaussian curves appeared to be the best fitted models for all four growing seasons. Three Gaussian parameters in combination with the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC), disease onset time, maximum disease incidence and severity were then considered to describe the rate of disease increase. Based on H-tests of Kruskal-Wallis one-way analysis of variance, cultivar and planting date significantly affected AUDPC, maximum disease incidence and severity. There were significant correlations between continuous disease descriptors. Then, significant associations were determined between AUDPC, disease onset time, Gaussian parameters, maximum disease incidence and severity according to factor analysis. With these novel findings, we should be aware of descriptive value of wheat-stripe-rust progress variables. Such information will assist with stripe rust measurements for wheat breeding programs, yield loss estimation, development of disease control strategy, and epidemiological studies. The Ministry of Health and Family Planning of Madagascar introduced Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) strategy in 2006, and community-based IMCI (c-IMCI), in Mahajanga II District in 2007. Following the 2009 political crisis, foreign organisations' suspension of development aid until 2012 significantly affected the implementation of c-IMCI. This study aimed to elucidate the perspectives of village health volunteers (VHVs) and public health officers (PHO) on c-IMCI. Semi-structured in-depth interviews with all VHVs working in three communes and PHOs working at central, district, and health centre levels were conducted in 2013. Textual data, created from transcripts, were translated into English and French. Data management involved analysis of sections of translated transcripts, which were marked, coded, and linked with similar experiences, challenges, and opinions; these were categorised into words and phrases to discover meaningful relationships between emerging themes. From all interviews of 30 VHV in three Mahajanga II communes and 4 PHOs, 3 themes emerged 1) benefits of c-IMCI to the community and for VHVs, 2) challenges to continue c-IMCI, and 3) motivation to continue c-IMCI. Although all respondents considered c-IMCI as beneficial, they stated it was difficult to continue. The health system and implementation of c-IMCI should be strengthened to enable programme survival beyond the initial phase, especially during times of political instability.Plastics based on low-density polyethylene (LDPE) blends generally have limited miscibility, and it is difficult to obtain a homogeneous blend. Although they show excellent properties, their thermal degradation rate is a concern. This work aims to realize a homogeneous blend with higher chitosan concentration, thus expected to increase its degradation properties. An extrusion technique successfully synthesized LDPE and chitosan blends. The mixtures were prepared by adding maleic anhydride (MA) and tert-butyl peroxybenzoate (TBPB) as a compatibilizer and initiator, respectively. The addition of MA and TBPB resulted in homogeneous blends and using chitosan concentration of 40 %wt resulted in better tensile strength and elongation at break. The water uptake increased along with chitosan concentration in the blends. The thermal behavior analysis of the blends conducted by simultaneous TG/DTA revealed that the increase of chitosan concentration tends to improve the blend's thermal degradation slightly. Moreover, chitosan addition resulted in approximately a hundred times larger biodegradability compared to plastics based on LDPE alone. The effect of the functional groups of capping agents was investigated in the synthesis of copper selenide, copper sulphide and copper oxide nanoparticles using oleylamine (OLA) and trioctylphosphine (TOP). These capping molecules have demonstrated their ability to act as reducing agents, surfactants, solvents and enhancement of colloidal stabilization. They also offer electron donating abilities from the two group 5A elements, P and N. Nitrogen atom in an amine group possess stronger surface interactions and higher basicity than P atom in the phosphines. Copper chalcogenide nanoparticles were prepared using Hot-injection method and characterized using UV/Vis spectroscopy, TEM and XRD. The optical and structural properties of the yielded nanoparticles showed dependence on the type of capping interactions from the two agents. Nanoparticles synthesized using TOP produced two phases whereas a single phase was observed from OLA as confirmed by XRD. Although TOP and OLA exhibit similar features, but their affinity to metals differs resulting to significant different morphology and crystallinity of the produced nanoparticles. Amine group has higher affinity for protons than phosphine due to the lone pair of electrons it possesses which it easily donates to H+ compared to phosphine. The high proton affinity of oleylamine makes it interact faster than trioctylphosphine. OLA in overall produced larger particle sizes compared to TOP but generated a wider variety of shapes.Monitoring parasitic contamination in raw vegetables used in salads is an important measure in controlling the occurrence of gastroenterological diseases, which may be life-threatening. VPS34inhibitor1 This study aimed to inspect the parasitological contamination of some raw vegetables used in salads. Eight commonly consumed vegetable types were purchased from street vendors in the city markets. Vegetables were washed and the sediments were obtained for microscopic examination. Genomic DNA was isolated from contaminated samples. Our result showed that 34.4% of the studied samples were contaminated with one or more species of parasites. Lettuce was the most commonly contaminated vegetable type (29.5%), while tarragon leaves showed the lowest level of contamination (2.3%). The risk of contamination was significantly higher in lettuce samples in comparison with the other samples studied. Giardia duodenalis was the most prevalent parasite detected (38.6%) and was abundantly found in lettuce isolates (23.5%). Molecular typing revealed that all Giardia samples found in the contaminated specimens belonged to Assemblage B.
