Metabolism disorder related to antipsychotic medications in people with schizophrenia: State-of-the-art along with potential perspectives.
To investigate blood serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)) concentrations and their relationships with selected characteristics in patients with central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).

This was a prospective study including 93 patients with active CSC. Blood concentrations of 5-HT, adrenocorticotropic hormone, and cortisol were measured in patients with CSC. Selected patient characteristics, including disease history (acute or chronic), medication use, smoking history, mood status, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), findings on fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography, and anatomical changes were evaluated during follow-up.

Eleven of the 93 patients had low 5-HT concentrations (<57 ng/mL) (12%, eight men and three women; mean age 55 years); we identified no significant relationship with acute/chronic disease status. The patients with low 5-HT were significantly more likely to have five or more fluorescein leakage sites (
= 0.0275), recurrence of subretinal fluids (
< 0.0001), and failure to achieve significant improvement in BCVA during follow-up (
= 0.862) than patients with 5-HT within the normal range.

Large quantities of unverified information are available online and at present there is no real-time tool available to alert a user about false information during online health inquiries over a web search engine. To bridge this gap, we propose a web search engine misinformation notifier extension (SEMiNExt). Natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning algorithm have been successfully integrated into the extension. This enables SEMiNExt to read the user query from the search bar, classify the veracity of the query and notify the authenticity of the query to the user, all in real-time to prevent the spread of misinformation. Our results show that SEMiNExt under artificial neural network (ANN) works best with an accuracy of 93%, F1-score of 92%, precision of 92% and a recall of 93% when 80% of the data is trained. Moreover, ANN is able to predict with a very high accuracy even for a small training data size. This is very important for an early detection of new misinformation from a small data sample available online that can significantly reduce the spread of misinformation and maximize public health safety. They originate during mRNA maturation through a modification of the splicing process and, according to the included sequences, are classified as Exonic, Intronic, or Exonic-Intronic. CircRNAs can act by sequestering microRNAs, by regulating the activity of specific proteins, and/or by being translated in functional peptides. There is emerging evidence indicating that dysregulation of circRNA expression is associated with pathological conditions, including cancer, neurological disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. The aim of this review is to provide a comprehensive and updated view of the most abundant circRNAs expressed in pancreatic islet cells, some of which originating from key genes controlling the differentiation and the activity of insulin-secreting cells or from diabetes susceptibility genes. We will particularly focus on the role of a group of circRNAs that contribute to the regulation of β-cell functions and that display altered expression in the islets of rodent diabetes models and of type 2 diabetic patients. We will also provide an outlook of the unanswered questions regarding circRNA biology and discuss the potential role of circRNAs as biomarkers for β-cell demise and diabetes development.To assess the availability, accessibility, appropriateness and quality of adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) services in primary health care (PHC) facilities in Plateau State, Nigeria, a cross-sectional study was conducted in 230 PHC facilities across the three senatorial zones of Plateau state. Primary data were obtained through face-to-face interviews with heads of facilities from December 2018 to May 2019. An adapted questionnaire from the World Health Organization (WHO) was used, covering five domains, to ascertain the extent that ASRH services were available and provided. Very few PHC facilities in the state had space (1.3%) and equipment (12.2%) for ASRH services. The proportion of PHC facilities offering counselling on sexuality was 11.3%, counselling on safe sex was 17%, counselling on contraception was 11.3% and management of gender-based violence was 3%. Most facilities were not operating at convenient times for adolescents. Only 2.6% PHC facilities had posters targeted at ASRH and just 7% of the PHCs had staff trained on ASRH.
