Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that clean and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet mess in one go without the need to switch devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will be able to navigate well and have excellent obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bin and refill their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads from the dock that is specifically designed for them.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer for its affordable price and is one of the most simple robots we've tested to install. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start manual gets you running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank, and a hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum has four power modes, a selection of attachments and brushes, and an intuitive app that lets you pick the type of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
You could, for instance ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent and the robot is able to detect tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it can crash into walls and objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing, where it's going and the obstacles it's avoided.
best budget robot vacuum cleaner on the docking station shows you when maintenance tasks are required, such as emptying the debris tray and washing the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is capable of operating for an 184-minute runtime in Quiet mode, and the vacuum able to do 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to replenish. You can also view the complete cleaning details within the app, which is well laid out and easy to understand although we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop and vacuum clean when examining a cleaned area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's most popular robot vacuum and mop. This year's model has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This increases the cleaning capabilities of carpets with this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction power that enables it to remove finer hairs and other debris other robotic cleaners might miss.
Like the other two Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology to can help it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. But the S8 Pro Ultra takes things one step further by incorporating a dual camera that can detect objects and determine whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It can then change its direction automatically and clean around the objects without missing a step.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek, angular design is eye-catching and it has just three physical buttons which include the power button which can also restart cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml tank of water. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto-filling.
The only downside I found in this model was the VibraRise mop pads mount is not removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to take off the mount to wash it manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot passes will come into contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features which include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app that is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also lets you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering the quality of its performance.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with cutting-edge features, high suction power, and advanced mopping capabilities. Its innovative design lets you to customize and efficiently clean while reducing time.
The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to provide 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the most effective alternatives available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair as well as crumbs and other dry messes. It comes with a mop that is excellent quality that can clean hard floors without using a pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation and only occasionally bursting during mode changes or self-maintenance.
Another notable feature is the X40's expandable and liftable side brush, that allows it to reach hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean curved furniture like table and chair legs. It also allows the robot to access furniture with a low profile which makes it a great option for smaller apartments and condominiums with small spaces. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots, which is a nice addition that assists the X40 keep floors safe from damage caused by repeated back-andforth movements.
In contrast to other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming at the same time or individually. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors and not skip carpeted areas or vice versa. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.
The app is easy to use and understand and the X40 comes with a variety of smart features that are easy to configure. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, view floor plans and mapping, and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it's finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and has many features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the trash bin into a 3.2 L bin, cleans mop pads and refills them with clean water and a cleaning solution. It can also detect if the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it spills.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that is among the most expensive models available however, it comes with many extra features that distinguish it from. Its mops have a new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to clean floors more thoroughly than the traditional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.
The mop is cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This is beneficial as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and it could be a good way of keeping your home cleaner for longer.
There are plenty of options, including the option to schedule cleaning times and adjust preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app, or via buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and has many options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also comes with several features that aren't available on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.
The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a white-and-metallic finish that looks elegant and elegant. It's heavier than the other two-in-one robots in this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it feels sturdy and well-built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors as well as in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
