Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum can keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you need to manually vacuum. Select a vacuum with good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and also has a large bin that needs to be emptying every so often.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature important for families with children or pets. The top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is an excellent option for those looking for a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the dustbin of the robot when it is full.
Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home to help the i3+ navigate and clean efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we tested the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords, and may have issues traversing transitions across surfaces like from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including putting away any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also a good idea to keep the bin and filter clean so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. Then it continues cleaning where it began. The battery's life span is approximately an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It has self-charging and self-navigating, but the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ can remember up to 10 floor plans and their names using Imprint Smart Mapping, which allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.
The i7+ is quicker and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also picked up large pet hair pieces from any surface, including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of households and can fit nicely on the table for a coffee or a bookshelf where you can wave it around like the magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filter system removes allergens, and then releases cleaner air back into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to match the task being performed. It quickly converts from handheld to floor vacuum and back.
The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as an clip for a wand. best home vacuum cleaner is a significant improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. Its claims on the market that it can provide up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is an average, not an exceptional, time for a battery-powered cordless vac. This is enough time to sweep the typical home, but not enough to reach every spot. (A second time is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It could pick up all kinds of debris in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure an extensive clean. The flat front of the unit allows it reach into corners and along the edges of walls and walls, which is a nice touch.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to avoid obstacles and navigate your home. However, it isn't equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, i3+EVO and the j7+ Series. Because of this, it may get stuck on things like phone cords and furniture that isn't in good condition, and often is power-depleted before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower recurring cost, has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better maneuver itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of purposes, because it has a longer battery life, can change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more robust, has a larger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a brand is seen on a variety of home electronics So it's no surprise that they're also one of the most reputable robotic vacuum and mop makers. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a variety of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior adjustments, docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to understand and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86% of it. However, it didn't do particularly well at avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we've tested which could be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.
The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning area. This feature lets you keep track of your pets or children when you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the bin clean and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots have been designed specifically for hard flooring. They have an extra wide cleaning path, as well as a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This allows them to keep the area clean for longer. They also come with two side sweepers to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which senses if it's picking up surface litter or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts its power level. The vacuum also has an app that lets users to see a virtual map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the click of a button. The app allows you to customize the LED lights on top of the vacuum using different colors so you can clearly see the areas where it's focused or where it's got stuck.
The app allows you to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for example, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. The HRV 425BL, however continued to travel across the border, without notifying the cliff. The ability to program a daily cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
