Based on the encouraging results obtained these new benzimidazol-2-yl quinazoline derivatives have emerged as promising antimicrobial agents for the treatment of MDR- S. aureus and Mycobacterial infections.
Over the last few years, treatment of mid-shaft clavicle fractures seems to have shifted from conservative to surgical. Our study reports the results of plate osteosynthesis of mid-shaft clavicle fractures and compares them with literature.
A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 32 patients with mid-shaft clavicle fractures treated with plate and screws between January 2009 and December 2014. All the patients followed the same post-operative rehabilitation program with radiographic and clinical evaluation (DASH score and Constant score) at a minimum follow-up of 24 months.
All the patients healed clinically and radiographically, without deformities or non-unions, with complete and early functional recovery and return to their pre-injury sport activities. At one year follow-up the mean Constant Score was 93.8 (SD 4.8) and the mean DASH score was 42 (SD 5.0).
Osteosynthesis with plate and screws of mid-shaft clavicle fractures allows not only restoration of the anatomy, but also early recovery of shoulder function. For this reason, such surgical treatment should always be considered when facing this particular fracture group, also in accordance with recent literature.

Preoperative diagnosis of long thoracic nerve (LTN) palsy is important for shoulder reconstruction after a traumatic brachial plexus injury (BPI). In the present study, we developed an objective diagnostic method for LTN palsy for patients with traumatic BPI.
This is a retrospective review of 56 patients with traumatic BPI who had been receiving treatment at a single institution for over 8 years. The patients were divided into 2 groups an LTN palsy group (n = 30) and a no palsy control group (n = 26). The LTN palsy group had 21 different palsy types with 4 and 5 C5-7 and C5-8, whereas the no palsy group had 18 different palsy types with 5 and 3 C5-6 and C5-8, respectively. Preoperative plain anteroposterior radiographs were taken in shoulder adduction and shrug positions. Scapulothoracic (ST) upward rotation and clavicle lateral (CL) rotation angles were measured on X-rays. The differences between the adduction and shrug positions for the respective angles were calculated and defined as Φ
and Φ
, respectively. The differences in the Φ
and Φ
values due to the presence or absence of LTN palsy were examined, the cutoff values of Φ
and Φ
for the diagnosis of LTN palsy were determined, and further sensitivity and specificity were calculated.
Both Φ
and Φ
were significantly decreased in the LTN palsy group compared with the no palsy control group. The sensitivity and specificity for LTN palsy were 0.833 and 1.000 for Φ
and 0.833 and 0.840 for Φ
, respectively, when the cutoff value was set as Φ
= 15° and Φ
≤ 24°.
Dynamic shrug radiographs provide a useful objective diagnosis of LTN palsy after traumatic BPI.

Olfactory dysfunction represents one of the most frequent symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019, affecting about 70 per cent of patients. However, the pathogenesis of the olfactory dysfunction in coronavirus disease 2019 has not yet been elucidated.
This report presents the radiological and histopathological findings of a patient who presented with anosmia persisting for more than three months after infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2.
The biopsy demonstrated significant disruption of the olfactory epithelium. This shifts the focus away from invasion of the olfactory bulb and encourages further studies of treatments targeted at the surface epithelium.

To investigate the relationships between (a) the
of the caregiver, (b) the specific
as perceived by the cognitive therapist in neuro-rehabilitation, (c) the caregivers'
to neuro-rehabilitation, and (d) the
of the patient.
Twenty-four patients with severe acquired brain injury and their 24 caregivers participated in this observational study. Caregivers underwent a psychological assessment examining emotional distress, burden and family strain; their subjective approach to neuro-rehabilitation has been evaluated by two specific answers. The patients' cognitive therapists responded to an ad-hoc questionnaire, namely the "Caregiving Impact on Neuro-Rehabilitation Scale" (CINRS), evaluating the features (i.e., amount and quality) of caregiving. Finally, the functional outcome of the patient was assessed through standardized scales of disability and cognitive functioning.
The caregivers'
was associated to the features of caregiving, to the subjective
to neuro-rehabilitation, and to the
ofositively influence the caregivers' psychological well-being. Although preliminary, these results suggest a specific psycho-educational intervention, aimed at improving the caregivers' psychological well-being and at facilitating their caring of the loved one.
Suicide is a huge nationwide problem that incurs a lot of socio-economic costs. Suicide also inflicts severe distress on the people left behind. The government of the Republic of Korea has been making many policy efforts to reduce suicide rate. Apcin manufacturer The gatekeeper program, 'Suicide CARE', is one of the meaningful modalities for preventing suicide.
Multidisciplinary research team collaborated to update the 'Suicide CARE' to version 2.0.
In the 'Introductory part', the authors have the time to think about the necessity and significance of the program before conducting full-scale gatekeeper training. In the 'Careful observation' part, trainees learn how to understand and recognize the various linguistic, behavioral, and situational signals that a person shows before committing suicide. In the 'Active listening' part, trainees learn how to ask suicide with a value-neutral attitude as well listening empathetically. In the 'Risk evaluation and Expert referral' part, trainees learn intervening strategies to identify a person's suicidal intention, plan, and past suicide attempts, and connect the person to appropriate institutes or services.
