Fig (Ficus carica L.) is among the earliest and widely cultivated fruit trees in the world due to its easy adaptation to diverse climates (Solomons et al. 2006). In July 2020, a rot disease was observed on multiple orchards located in Faisalabad- a region of Punjab Province. The symptoms appeared as light brown, circular to oval, and water-soaked lesions (4-8 mm in diameter). In more advanced stages of the disease, the lesions enlarged in size and leading to rot of the entire fruit. Disease incidence on fruit across the fields ranged from 23 to 29%. this website To isolate the causal agent, segments (5 mm2) were excised from 15 symptomatic fruit, surface disinfested with 70% ethanol for 1 min, washed in three changes of sterilized water, air dried, transferred aseptically to plates containing potato dextrose agar (PDA), and incubated at 25°C for 7 days with a 12-h photoperiod. Nine single spore isolates with similar morphology were isolated from the infected tissues. The cultured isolates consistently yielded dark brown tions to combat the disease in Punjab Province of Pakistan. We designed and deployed an apparatus to apply UV light for suppression of powdery mildew in open field production of strawberry. The unit was evaluated in a commercial production field for one season, and for two additional seasons in open field research plots at the University of Florida Gulf Coast Research and Education Center. The apparatus contained two 180-cm-long hemicylindrical arrays of twenty 55-W low-pressure discharge UV-C lamps (operated at 30 W; peak wavelength = 254 nm) backed by polished aluminum reflectors covering two adjacent beds of the strawberry planting. The lamp arrays were suspended within a steel carriage that was tractor-drawn through the planting at 2.3, 4.6, and 5.6 km h-1. Nighttime applications of UV-C at doses ranging from 65 to 170 J⋅m-2 either once or twice weekly provided suppression of foliar and fruit disease that was consistently equal to or better than that provided by a commercial calendar-based fungicide spray program.Acer mono Maxim, mainly distributed in China, Japan, Korea and eastern Russia (Shang et al. 2012), is a widely planted ornamental and pharmaceutical tree (Zhang et al. 2015). In September 2020, leaf samples of A. mono infected by uredinia were collected in Shaanxi Province (34°15'40.06'' N, 108°3'54.54'' E, alt. 432.35m), China. Telia development was observed in late autumn. Voucher specimens were deposited in the Herbarium Mycologicum Academiae Sinicae (no. HMAS249354), China. This led to premature defoliation and in the 90% planting wide incidence. Geospatial investigations revealed that this rust was widely distributed in local urban parks, but was nonpathogenic to A. buergerianum, A. negundo, A. oblongum, A. palmatum and A. rubrum. This fungus was morphologically characterized and most closely matched descriptions of Pucciniastrum. Uredinia were hypophyllous, subepidermal, scattered to gregarious, oval or round, 0.10-0.30 × 0.08-0.15 mm, golden yellow to orange, somewhat pulverulent. Peridia were hemispheth 12 h light per day. Disease symptoms after 10-12 days' inoculation on the inoculated leaves which were identical to the original observations, while the control leaves remained healthy. Previously, P. hikosanense was reported to infect Acer rufinerve Sieb. et Zucc. in Japan (Hiratsuka 1940) and A. rubescens Hayata in Taiwan, China (Dai 1979). This is the first report of leaf rust of Acer mono caused by Pucciniastrum hikosanense Hirats. f. in China.
Finland was the first European country to introduce a nation-wide mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination policy for healthcare workers (HCWs) by mandating that administrators of health care institutions only employ vaccinated HCWs. In this study, we examine the effects of the new policy and the view of HCWs on the new policy.
A cross-sectional observational study was conducted in Kuopio University Hospital among HCWs working in close patient contact. The statistics on vaccination coverage were obtained from the hospital's own databases, where employees were asked to self-report their suitability for work. An anonymous survey was sent to HCWs in 2015-2016 (
= 987) and 2018-2019 (
= 821).
Vaccination coverage increased from 59.5 to 99.6%, according to the hospital's own records. Among the survey respondents, the seasonal influenza vaccination coverage of HCWs increased from 68.2 to 95.4%. 83.8% of doctors and 49.4% of nurses supported the new policy. 12.7% of doctors and 41.5% of nurses found the nenstitutions only employ vaccinated HCWs. After the new act, the vaccination coverage of HCWs increased close to 100%. Most of the HCWs supported the new act and did not find it coercive. The successful experience of Vietnam, with a population of almost 100 million, in handling the COVID pandemic from March to November 2020 is presented as a case study. It is posited that lessons learned apply to every other country-even at this late stage of the epidemic. Detailed aspects of detection, containment, testing, contact tracing, quarantining, targeted lockdowns, public health messaging, and travel and mobility restriction policies are discussed.
This systematic review asked which patterns of complications are associated with the three reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) prosthetic designs, as classified by Routman et al, in patients undergoing RTSA for the management of cuff tear arthropathy, massive cuff tear, osteoarthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. The three implant design philosophies investigated were medial glenoid/medial humerus (MGMH), medial glenoid/lateral humerus (MGLH), and lateral glenoid/medial humerus (LGMH).
A systematic review of the literature was performed via a search of MEDLINE and Embase. Two reviewers extracted data on complication occurrence and patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). Meta-analysis was conducted on the reported proportion of complications, weighted by sample size, and PROMs were pooled using the reported standardized mean difference (SMD). Quality of methodology was assessed using Wylde's non-summative four-point system. The study was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42020193041).
A total of 42 studies met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
