The insects were sprayed with insecticides containing the active substances cyfluthrin and deltamethrin ( T. molitor ), and thiamethoxam and acetamiprid ( L. decemlineata ). The sprayed insect larvae were left for 24, 48 and 72 hours. Samples were then prepared using SPME fiber to identify the volatile compounds contained in the larvae. The determinations were made by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Chemical compounds were found in the analyzed samples alkanes, aldehydes, ketones, esters, terpenes, fatty acids. In the samples prepared from T. molitor larvae, more than 20% of aldehydes and 8-41% of alkanes were determined. In the samples from L. decemlineata, fatty acids were 8-65% depending on the length of time after applying the insecticide. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.Intestinal stem cells (ISCs) fuel the lifelong self-renewal of the intestinal tract and are paramount for epithelial repair. In this context, the Wnt pathway component LGR5 is the most consensual ISC marker to date. Still, the effort to better understand ISC identity and regulation remains a challenge. We have generated a Mex3a knockout mouse model and show that this RNA-binding protein is crucial for the maintenance of the Lgr5+ ISC pool, as its absence disrupts epithelial turnover during postnatal development and stereotypical organoid maturation ex vivo. Transcriptomic profiling of intestinal crypts reveals that Mex3a deletion induces the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) pathway, along with a decrease in Wnt signalling and loss of the Lgr5+ stem cell signature. Furthermore, we identify PPARγ activity as a molecular intermediate of MEX3A-mediated regulation. We also show that high PPARγ signalling impairs Lgr5+ ISC function, thus uncovering a new layer of post-transcriptional regulation that critically contributes to intestinal homeostasis. © 2020 The Authors. The purpose of this study was to determine whether such skills could act as predictors of the onset of psychosis, and compare those of individuals converting and non-converting to psychosis with control of cognitive functions. METHODS Seventy-three patients, aged 15 to 32 years, fulfilling ultrahigh risk criteria took part 14% of whom were receiving antipsychotic drugs. The study was observational, prospective and longitudinal in nature, and scheduled for 60 months. The ultrahigh risk (UHR) criteria were evaluated with Comprehensive Assessment of At-Risk Mental States; attention, intelligence and verbal fluency were controlled. RESULTS The conversion rate was 25%; converters demonstrated impaired humour comprehension and metaphor explanation abilities; composite score of pragmatic language was associated with a hazard ratio of 6.0 (95% CI 1.8-20.5) and AUC of .73. Verbal fluency was an independent predictor of conversion, but attention and intelligence were not; pragmatic language skills were associated with social function but not with prodromal symptoms. CONCLUSIONS The results suggest that deficits in humour comprehension and metaphor explanation could predict conversion to psychosis. These findings could improve diagnosis and create implications for speech and language therapy in UHR groups. Further studies on the mechanisms of pragmatic skills should analyze their relationship with abstract measures and semantic coherence. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.BACKGROUND Depression is common in patients on haemodialysis and associated with adverse outcomes. Antidepressant use is widespread though evidence of efficacy is limited. OBJECTIVES To study antidepressant management practices in patients on haemodialysis with reference to NICE guidelines on management of depression in adults with chronic physical health problems. DESIGN Prospective, multicentre, longitudinal cohort study with 6-15 month follow-up. PARTICIPANTS Patients on haemodialysis established on antidepressant medication. MEASUREMENTS Baseline assessment of mood was undertaken using Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II). Demographic, clinical and medication data were also collected. Changes in clinical and life circumstances and medication during follow-up were recorded. At follow-up, BDI-II was reassessed and diagnostic psychiatric assessment undertaken. RESULTS Forty-one patients were studied. General practitioners were the main prescribers (68%). Ten agents were in use, the commonest being Citalopram (39%). Doses were often suboptimal. At baseline, 30 patients had high BDI-II scores (≥16) and 22 remained high at follow-up. Eleven had BDI-II  less then  16 at baseline. In five, this increased on follow-up to ≥16. Sixteen patients (39%) had no medication review during follow-up, 14 (34%) had a dose review, and 11 (27%) a medication change. On psychiatric assessment at follow-up, eight patients had current major depressive disorder (MDD), seven recurrent and 20 evidence of past MDD. Six displayed no evidence of ever having MDD. CONCLUSIONS Antidepressant management in patients on haemodialysis reflected poor drug selection, overprescription, under-dosing and inadequate follow-up suggesting sub-optimal adherence to NICE guidelines. Most patients had high depression scores at follow-up. Antidepressant use in haemodialysis requires reappraisal. © 2020 European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association.Household food insecurity (HFI) is a powerful stressor negatively associated with early childhood development (ECD). However, no comprehensive review has examined the association of HFI and ECD. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the association between HFI and ECD domains and subdomains in children under 5 years old. Peer-reviewed and grey literature were systematically searched in electronic databases with no year or language restrictions. Studies were eligible if they assessed the association between HFI and one or more ECD domains. Data were extracted using a standard predefined protocol. Meta-analysis was performed, and the heterogeneity across studies was explored. Nineteen studies were included in the systematic review and 14 in the meta-analysis. Of the studies, 15 were from high income countries (HICs) and four from low-middle income countries (LMICs). For developmental risk and the cognitive/math and cognitive/school readiness and reading subdomains, the only studies available were conducted in HICs.
