Gilderoy Lockhart merupakan seorang penyihir selebriti yang mempunyai kadar narsis yang tinggi. Nasib sial yang menimpanya adalah ketika Harry & Ron mengajaknya memasuki kamar Rahasia. Disana kemudia terungkap bahwa dia adalah seorang penipu dan ternyata tdk pernah melakukan hal yg hebat sprti yg ditulis di buku-bukunya. itu ternyata hanya merupakan pengalaman para penyihir yg diwawancarainya dan kemudian ia menghapus memori penyihir tersbut. lalu dia mencoba memantrai Harry & Ron dengan mantra 'Obliviate' krn mereka telah mengetahui semua rahasianya. Saat ia melakukannya dengan menggunakan wand milik Ron yg telah rusak dan akhirnya sihir trsbt berbalik pada dirinya. Hingga Akhirnya Prof. Lockhart menjadi salah satu pasien di St. Mungo.
