Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors clean enough to reduce the frequency of manual hoovering. Choose one that has an easy navigation, can clean stairs and corners and also has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only every few times.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option important for families with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin when it fills up.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris off hard floors and carpets, and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have test. It may be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant use. It takes three hours to fully charge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line, and it comes with the latest technology. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.
In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments as well as an Wand clip. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its limited run time. Its claims on the market that it has up to 60 minutes of run time are not true as CR's tests have shown. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. That's still enough run time to clean most of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to clean every area (though an additional run-through often does the trick). However, this model doesn't have its advantages It's lighter and more mobile than the older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is superior on carpets with a low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
The 694 is a standard robot vac uum that's a great choice for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on the latest model of robot. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better move itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuum s and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's priced higher than other models we've tested, and this could be a deterrent for certain shoppers.
The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets while you are away. The filter and dustbin are washable for quick, painless cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard flooring. They have a wider cleaning path and a larger dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the area clean for the longest time. They also come with two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense which adjusts the power level depending on whether it's cleaning up surface dirt or embedded dirt. It also includes a smart application that lets you browse the virtual map and manage the functions and schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app lets you alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it's stuck.
The application also allows you to manually steer the robot if needed. My living room rug for example is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as an incline. The ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
