The i3+ isn't able to feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots we have test. It may be stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like carpet and hardwood.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes getting rid of any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates the main sources of maintenance and reduces the cost of maintenance.

We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session and to move around the room and vacuum an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to give voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options for managing the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a world of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery that can provide power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases cleaner air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to the specific task. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.

Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the ability to map that comes with more advanced models like our top choices such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses, has more advanced automation capabilities and is able to better move itself. It also has a larger dustbin and is charged faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most purposes, because it has a better battery life, can change its suction power mode on its own and comes with physical boundary strips, and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It is also more durable, has a stronger motor, and can perform better on low-pile and bare floors.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuum s and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has the most advanced onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior customization, docking frequency settings, and much more. It's easy to comprehend and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.


In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. The application also allows you to manually steer the robot if needed. My living room rug for example is darkly colored that can trip up some other robots. However the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border, without registering it as an incline. The ability to set up a weekly cleaning schedule is a wonderful time-saving benefit.
