The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves them spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if required. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. best rated robot vacuum feature motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it detects the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combo uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they tend to be.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. For busy families recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
