In this study, the CuInS2/ZnS core/shell quantum dots (QDs) were prepared via simple and environmentally friendly solvothermal synthesis and were used as phosphors for white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). The surface defect of the CuInS2 core QDs were passivated by the ZnS shell by forming CuInS2/ZnS core/shell QDs. By adjusting the Cu/In ratio and the nucleation temperature, the photoluminescence (PL) peak of the CuInS2 QDs was tunable in a range of 651-775 nm. After coating the ZnS layer and modifying oleic acid ligands, the PL quantum yield increased to 85.06%. The CuInS2/ZnS QD powder thermal stability results showed that the PL intensity of the QDs remained 91% at 100°C for 10 min. High color rendering index values (CRI, 90) and correlated color temperature of 4360 K for the efficient WLEDs were fabricated using CuInS2/ZnS QDs and (Ba,Sr)2SiO4Eu2+ as color converters in combination with a blue GaN light-emitting diode chip.Zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors are a promising energy storage device as they simultaneously combine the high capacity of batteries and the high power of supercapacitors. However, the practical application of Zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitors is hindered by insufficient energy density and poor rate performance. In this study, a symmetrical zinc-ion hybrid supercapacitor device was constructed with hollow mesoporous-carbon nanospheres as electrode materials, and aqueous ZnSO4 adopted as an electrolyte. Benefiting from the mesoporous structure and high specific area (800 m2/g) of the hollow carbon nanospheres, fast capacitor-type ion adsorption/de-adsorption on both the cathode and the anode can be achieved, as well as additional battery-type Zn/Zn2+ electroplating/stripping on the anode. This device thus demonstrates outstanding electrochemical performance, with high capacity (212.1 F/g at 0.2 A/g), a high energy density (75.4 Wh/kg at 0.16 kW/kg), a good rate performance (34.2 Wh/kg energy density maintained at a high power density of 16.0 kW/kg) and excellent cycling stability with 99.4% capacitance retention after 2,500 cycles at 2 A/g. The engineering of this new configuration provides an extremely safe, high-rate, and durable energy-storage device.Herein, a self-assembly formulation of Zein and dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) binary complex has been developed for the quercetin (Que) delivery. The prepared particles display a smooth sphere in the range of 180 ~ 250 nm. The addition of DSS shields the Trp residues of Zein that were located on the hydrophilic exterior and in-turn reduces the surface hydrophobicity of the nanoparticles. Piperlongumine ROS chemical The presence of DSS, indeed, increases the encapsulation efficiency of Que from the initial 45.9 in the Zein to 72.6% in the Zein/DSS binary complex. A significant reduction of Que diffusion in the simulated intestinal conditions has been observed with the addition of DSS on the nanoparticles, which also improves Que bioavailability. The release mechanism of Que-loaded Zein/DSS composites is in accordance with the Higuchi model (Q = 0.0913t0.5+0.1652, R2 = 0.953). Overall, nanoparticles based on Zein-DSS complexes stand out as an attractive carrier system of quercetin and the outcome could be extended to several bioactive compounds.A mild ruthenium(II)-catalyzed homocoupling of α-carbonyl sulfoxonium ylides was developed and the detailed mechanism was understood based on DFT calculations in the current report. The catalytic system utilizes the α-carbonyl sulfoxonium ylide as both the directing group for ortho-sp2 C-H activation and the acylmethylating reagent for C-C coupling. Various substituents are compatible in the transformation and a variety of isocoumarin derivatives were synthesized at room temperature without any protection. The theoretical results disclosed that the full catalytic cycle contains eight elementary steps, and in all the cationic Ru(II) monomer is involved as the catalytic active species. The acid additive is responsible for protonation of the ylide carbon prior to the intramolecular nucleophilic addition and C-C bond cleavage. Interestingly, the intermediacy of free acylmethylation intermediate or its enol isomer is not necessary for the transformation.[This corrects the article DOI 10.3389/fpubh.2020.00350.].Background It has been estimated that 27.8 million neonates will die worldwide between 2018 and 2030 if no improvements in neonatal and maternal care take place. The aim of this study was to determine the rate, risk factors, and causes of neonatal mortality in Jordan. Methods In August 2019, an electronic stillbirths and neonatal deaths surveillance system (JSANDS) was established in in three large cities through five hospitals. Data on all births, neonatal mortality and their causes, and other characteristics in the period between August 2019 and January 2020 were exported from the JSANDS and analyzed. Results A total of 10,328 births [10,226 live births (LB) and 102 stillbirths] were registered in the study period, with a rate of 14.1 deaths per 1,000 LBs; 76% were early neonatal deaths and 24% were late deaths. The odds of deaths in the Ministry of Health hospitals were almost 21 times (OR = 20.8, 95% CI 2.8, 153.1) higher than that in private hospitals. Low birthweight and pre-term babies were significantminimize such deaths. Background The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the suspension of the entire teaching program at the Medical University of Vienna till the end of the summer semester. As the department that is responsible for emergency medicine teaching, we adapted the program to continue the courses and maintain the learning progress. Our objective is to evaluate the number of courses conducted and report the methods used. Methods Teaching was measured as credit hours per week (CHW) in accordance with the university's prospectus. One CHW represents 15 academic hours (45 min) in one semester. Webinars were conducted using the CISCO Webex Events®, Webex Training, and ZOOM®. The Moodle® was utilized for resuscitation courses. Results Courses and clerkships equivalent to 80.2 out of 101.4 CHW (79.1%) could be held during the ongoing crisis in the summer semester. Courses in the winter semester were all completed. In the human medicine curriculum, 73.7 out of 94.9 CHW (77.7%) could be conducted. In the case of emergency lectures for the dentistry curriculum, all courses were conducted through webinars (6.
