Knee ostheochondritis dissecans is an osteochondral disease, whose treatment is still debated. The purpose this study was to analyze the patients attached with bioabsorbable nail, assisted by arthroscopy.

Analysis was performed using median and interquartile range (P

), with a follow-up of 9 patients (10 knees) operated for stage III osteochondral lesions. After a minimum of 12 months, the KOOS, IKDC, satisfaction questionnaires were evaluated and a MR control was perfomed.

Bone healing was observed in 80% of patients in the first year, with a delay in union in 20%. The median for age was 15 years. The average follow-up was 5.93 years. All cases were located in the internal condyle. The OCD lesions did not show comminution or necrosis. The 40% of stable lesions, according to preoperative MR, were unestable in arthroscopy and it were attached with internal nail. Two groups of osteochondral lesions were differentiated juvenile OCD (60%) and adult OCD (40%); all of them were stage III lesions. IKDC questionnaire results were an improvement of 29.5 (22.25, 37.52). In the KOOS questionnaire, an improvement was obtained in symptoms of 18.07, in pain of 29.12, in daily living 25.53, in function (sports, recreational activities) of 35 and in quality of life of 34.42.

Early tumor size reduction (TSR) has been explored as a prognostic factor for survival in patients with advanced melanoma in clinical trials. The purpose of this analysis is to validate, in a routine clinical milieu, the predictive capacity of TSR by 10% for overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) and to compare its predictive performance with the RECIST 1.1 criteria.

We present a model for providing imaging services to the underserved with an emphasis on the challenges we encountered and strategies we used to overcome them. In partnership with our medical school's student-run free clinic, we developed a community-based ultrasound service that provides diagnostic ultrasound examinations to an uninsured urban population to address the need of timely access to care and integrated follow-up care. Image storage and reporting were fully integrated with our existing imaging informatics and electronic medical record systems. Radiology residents play a central role in the operation of the service while gaining hands-on ultrasound experience, in partnership with volunteer sonographers, radiology attendings, and medical students.
The accuracy of measured radiomics features is affected by CT imaging protocols. This study aims to ascertain if applying bias corrections can improve the classification performance of the radiomics features.

A cohort of 144 Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer patient CT images was used to calculate radiomics features for use in predictive models of patient pathological stage. Simulation models of the tumors, matched to patient lesion qualities of size, contrast, and degree of spiculation, were used to both create and assess protocol-specific correction factors. The usefulness of correction was first assessed by applying the corrections to simulated lesion phantoms with known properties using a corrected paired Student's t-test. The sensitivity of radiomics features to correction factors was assessed by applying a library of possible theoretical correction factors to the uncorrected radiomics from the patient data. The data were then used to assess the effect of the correction on prediction performance (AUC) from ses introduced by different imaging protocols. The correction factors should ideally be lesion-specific, derived using lesion models that echo patient lesion characteristics in terms of size, contrast, and degree of spiculation. Small corrections in the 10% range offers only a small improvement in the predictability of radiomics.

The objective of this study was to analyze opioid-related adverse events and root causes to inform mitigation strategies associated with opioid prescribing and administration.

The researchers conducted a retrospective analysis of root cause analysis reports of opioid overdose events between August 1, 2012, and September 30, 2019. These adverse events were investigated locally by multidisciplinary hospital teams and reported by VHA facility patient safety managers to the National Center for Patient Safety for further aggregation and analysis.
