This sensing strategy offers new opportunities for the convenient detection of proteins, nucleic acids, and lipids.A novel one-pot approach for the synthesis of multi-substituted 2-imidazolylimidazoles, 2-pyrazolylimidazoles and 2-indazolylimidazoles was developed through a domino addition/A3 coupling/cyclization process under copper catalysis. A variety of aminoethyl- or hydroxylethyl-tethered 2-azolylimidazole derivatives were conveniently and efficiently assembled in one pot using N-propargylcarbodiimides, azoles, paraformaldehyde and secondary amines as starting materials. The products containing an o-iodoaryl group could be further converted to imidazo[1,2-c]imidazo[1,2-a]quinazoline derivatives through a copper-catalyzed intramolecular C-H arylation.We explore the evolution of the mechanical properties of a coarsening foam containing colloidal particles that undergo a sol-gel transition in the continuous phase. This enables us to investigate the impact of elasto-capillarity on foam mechanics over a wide range of elasto-capillary numbers. Right after initiating aggregation the foam mechanics is predominantly determined by the elasticity of the bubbles, while the contributions of the continuous phase become dominant as the colloidal particles form a gel. Taking into account the confined configuration of the foam skeleton for the formation of a space spanning gel, we find that for elasto-capillary numbers exceeding unity the foam mechanics can be described as a simple linear combination of the contributions due to respectively the bubble elasticity and the elastic skeleton. Surprisingly, the contributions of the elastic skeleton to the overall foam mechanics are larger for smaller elasto-capillary numbers, scaling as the inverse of the capillary number.Thermally-robust bismuthanylstibanes are prepared in a one-step, high yield reaction, providing the first examples of neutral Bi-Sb σ-bonds in the solid state. Then, the obtained graphene quantum dot was utilized as a visible-light photocatalyst for the oxidative coupling of amines. Our photocatalyst demonstrates excellent catalytic efficiency with both high reaction conversion and selectivity. Furthermore, the proposed graphene quantum dot could be recycled via a simple CO2 bubbling method.High-performance broadband photodetectors have attracted extensive research interest because of their significance in optoelectronic applications. In this study, a highly sensitive room-temperature (RT) broadband photodetector composed of a WS2/GaAs type-II van der Waals heterojunction was demonstrated, which exhibited obvious photoresponse to broadband light illumination from 200 to 1550 nm beyond the limitation of the bandgaps. Impressive device performances were achieved in terms of a low noise current of ∼59.7 pA, a high responsivity up to 527 mA W-1, an ultrahigh Ilight/Idark ratio of 107, a large specific detectivity of 1.03 × 1014 Jones, a minimum detection light intensity of 17 nW cm-2 and an external quantum efficiency (EQE) up to 80%. Transient photoresponse measurements revealed that the present detector is capable of working at a high frequency with a 3 dB cutoff frequency up to 10 kHz and a corresponding rise/fall time of 21.8/49.6 μs. Notably, this heterojunction device demonstrated Zener tunneling behaviors with a threshold voltage of -4 V. The capacitance-voltage (C-V) properties of the heterojunction were investigated to understand the device performances. In addition, the as-fabricated device can function as an image sensor with an outstanding imaging capability. Considering the above superior features, the proposed WS2/GaAs type-II van der Waals heterojunction may find great potential in high-performance broadband photodetection applications.Two-dimensional (2D) noble metal-based nanosheets (NSs) have received considerable interest in recent years due to their unique properties and widespread applications. Pd-based NSs, as a typical member of 2D noble metal-based NSs, have been most extensively studied. In this review, we first summarize the research progress on the synthesis of Pd-based NSs, including pure Pd NSs, Pd-based alloy NSs, Pd-based core-shell NSs and Pd-based hybrid NSs. The synthetic strategy and growth mechanism are systematically discussed. Then their properties and applications in catalysis, biotherapy, gas sensing and so on are introduced in detail. Finally, the challenges and opportunities towards the rational design and controlled synthesis of Pd-based NSs are proposed.Bismuth (Bi) is a promising anode material for potassium-ion batteries due to its high energy density. However, the large volume change limits its applications. Herein, N-doped carbon coated Bi nanorods with a hollow structure are fabricated and they exhibit excellent long-term cycling performance (88% capacity retention over 1000 cycles) and high-rate ability (297 mA h g-1 at 20C, 94% capacity of that at 1C). Furthermore, the mechanism was expounded by in situ XRD, indicating a multi-phase reaction for the initial discharge process and three two-phase reactions for the subsequent charge/discharge processes.
