Nanoparticles loaded with the biocide Triclosan showed a high antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis, a cellulase producing bacteria, if applied to model paper substrates, even at extremely low coating weights of 1-5 g/m2, respectively. Additional long-term efficacy renders these nanoparticles ideal for various applications.
Over the years, a variety of intracranial stents have been developed, which has expanded the therapy options available for cerebral aneurysms. The Low profile visible intraluminal support (LVIS) EVO stents are new devices, which officially appeared on the market in 2020. The purpose of the study is to report the initial technical and clinical experience with the new stent in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
Between February and September 2020, 30 patients with 35 intracranial aneurysms (29 unruptured and 6 ruptured) were treated using the LVIS EVO stent in our department. The aneurysms were located within internal carotid artery (ICA) (42.9%), middle cerebral artery (MCA) (31.4%), anterior communicating artery (AComA) (11.4%), basilar artery (BA) (11.4%) and anterior cerebral artery (ACA) (2.9%). Stent-assisted coil embolization was performed in all cases.
All stents were deployed successfully in the desired position. Immediate complete occlusion of the treated aneurysms, described as Raymond-Roy occlusion classification (RROC) class 1, was achieved in all cases. No technical complications were observed. One thromboembolic complication occurred in the group of unruptured aneurysms and one patient died due to cerebral edema from aneurysms rupture group.
In our observation, the showed a satisfactory safety profile LVIS EVO stents seem to be very flexible, can be safely maneuvered and deployed in tortuous vessels. They showed a good initial occlusion rate when used for treating intracranial aneurysms with SAC (stent-assisted coiling).

Interventional treatment of aorto-ostial coronary stenoses is limited by stent recoil and suboptimal angiographic results, leading to restenosis and frequent re-interventions. As a potential bail-out strategy for stent recoil, implantation of an additional stent to increase radial force has been reported. Thus, we sought to investigate clinical outcomes after additional implantation of a Dynamic Renal
stent (DRS), a non-coronary; bare-metal stent with very high radial force, in aorto-ostial coronary stenoses.
Patients treated by implantation of DRSs for stent recoil in the ostial right coronary artery or the left main stem were identified from the hospital database. Baseline clinical and procedural characteristics were compared to patients who underwent re-intervention for in-stent-restenosis in similar segments by either implantation of conventional drug-eluting stents (DES) or paclitaxel-coated balloons (PCB). Clinical follow-ups were performed up to three years following re-intervention with the asseeath and MACE compared to treatment of in-stent-restenosis with DES or PCB. Randomized, larger comparisons of contemporary DES in patients exclusively presenting with stent recoil are necessary to further define the efficacy and safety of this approach.
DRS implantation for treating stent recoil of aorto-ostial coronary lesions resulted in a high rate of TLR, and was associated with similar risk for death and MACE compared to treatment of in-stent-restenosis with DES or PCB. Randomized, larger comparisons of contemporary DES in patients exclusively presenting with stent recoil are necessary to further define the efficacy and safety of this approach. The broad traits of boldness and independence in domestic horses can affect their usefulness and, indirectly, their welfare. The objective of the current study was to explore associations between attributes that reflect equine boldness and independence with both the age of horses and the age at which they were started under saddle, as well as other variables including breed, colour and primary equestrian discipline. All data were sourced from responses (n = 1940) to the 97-question online Equine Behaviour Assessment and Research Questionnaire (E-BARQ). Twenty E-BARQ items from the dataset were selected to reflect boldness and independence and were tested for univariate significance at p less then 0.2. Multivariable modelling of the effect of age on remaining traits was assessed by an ordinal logistic regression, using a cumulative log odds model. This revealed that older horses were bolder (p = 0.012). However, horses started under saddle at an older age were less bold and less independent (p = 0.040 and p had ridden their whole lives. The study findings suggest that boldness and independence are separate traits and only boldness was associated with the age of the horse. Factors that relate to desirable boldness and independence are important in ridden horses because they can affect rider safety. Results from this study should improve horse-rider matching and thereby potentially enhance horse welfare.Grafting is a valuable tool for managing problems of tomato soil-borne pathogens and pests, but often generates unpredictable effects on crop yield and product quality. To observe these rootstocks-induced changes, experimental designs including many rootstock-scion combinations are required. To this end, a greenhouse experiment was conducted on 63 graft combinations, involving seven cherry tomato scions grouped in large, medium and small-fruited, and eight rootstocks with different genetic backgrounds (crosses between Solanum lycopersicum and S. habrochaites or S. peruvianum or S. pimpinellifolium, plus an intraspecific hybrid), using ungrafted controls. The response of the graft partners was firstly analyzed individually using the environmental variance (σ2E), then by grouping them by classes. When analyzed individually, the scion genotype influenced fruit L*, b*, shape index, total soluble solids (TSS) and its ratio with tritatable acidity (TSS/TA), whereas plant growth and yield were unpredictable. After clustering the graft partners, some of these responses were attributable to the imposed classes.
