Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and mop provide the convenience of removing dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet messes (spills or staining) in one go without the need to switch out devices. They can also save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot should have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bin and fill up their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads from an appropriate dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It's one of the simplest robots to set up that we've ever tested. Unpacking is easy and the quick-start guide will have you running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at fast speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, which makes short work of dirt, pet hair and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app that lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like for each room.
For instance, you can decide to let the robot do a deep clean in the living and kitchen areas but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It is able to detect small obstacles that other models can't. The only problem is that the robot tends to hit walls and objects at a high speed. However, a quick look at the history of cleaning on the app will tell you exactly what the robot has completed, where it's going, and which obstacles he has run into or avoided.
A handy LCD screen on the docking station informs you when maintenance tasks must be completed like emptying the debris tray, and washing the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can run for 184 mins in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or returning to the base. And you can see the complete cleaning details within the app, which is well laid out and is easy to comprehend however we would have liked to be able to distinguish between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's top robot mop and vacuum. In contrast to the model of last year it comes with two agitators in its mopping pad which greatly improves carpet cleaning capabilities. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pull up smaller hairs as well as other debris other robotic cleaners could miss.
Like the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates two cameras that can recognize objects, and determine if they are walls or other surfaces. It is able to change its path automatically and clean the objects without missing a step.
It's the most expensive of the three models I've reviewed however, it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek angular design is eye catching and only has three buttons that are physically accessible. The power button, which also resumes the cleaning, a mop button that doubles as a child lock, and a home-button to send the robot to its dock. The hinged lid opens to reveal a 350ml trash bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin auto-refills.
The only issue I have discovered with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. It is possible to change the mopping cloth if required, but it's not easy to remove the mount to wash it manually. I've observed that any soft carpet the robot crosses will be in contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that could cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can set up and manage these using the Roborock app, which is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings and monitor the battery life and maintain your components. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to enable voice control with this model, which is a shame considering how well it performs otherwise.
3. Dreame X40
The Dreame X40 robot vacuum and mop is a market leader with innovative features, superior suction power and cutting-edge mopping capabilities. Its innovative design lets users to tailor and effectively clean while reducing time.
The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to feature 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is among the most powerful options available. This powerful vacuum cleans up dry debris, including pet hair and dust. It also has a high-quality mop that leaves floors spotlessly clean, even without a wet pad. The X40 is also extremely quiet when in operation, with only occasional bursts during mode changes or self-maintenance.
The X40 also comes with a side brush that is able to be lifted and extended. This lets it reach into corners that are difficult to reach and clean furniture with curved edges like table and chair legs. It also lets the robot to get under furniture with a low profile making it an ideal option for apartments or condominiums with small spaces. The side brush also automatically swivels downwards when it detects wet spots. This is a nice addition that assists the X40 to avoid causing damage to floors by excessive back-and-forth movements.
In contrast to other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 can do mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or in a series. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpet and mop only hard floors, or reverse the process. It can be controlled by the Dreame App or Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to ensure that voice-controlled operations are smooth and easy.
The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are easy to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at certain times. They can also adjust suction power, change modes, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also track its progress and notify you when it is finished.
The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous convenient features, making it a great option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also detect the moment when the mop pad has reached its capacity to the max and alert you to the situation before it overflows.
4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available on the market. However, it has several characteristics that make it stand out. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that makes use of two mops with high-speed motors to clean floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and other small dirt particles - and also pick up spills and wet spots.
The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station each time they are used. This feature is great as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a system we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and it could be a good way of keeping your home clean for longer.
There's a wealth of settings on offer, including the possibility to schedule cleaning appointments and adjust a variety of preferences. The app allows you to define these preferences, or you can make use of the buttons on the device itself. The app is simple to use and provides a number of options to customize your cleaning routine. It also comes with many features that aren't available on other robots, such as the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction when it detects any dust particles.
The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen in the market, with a white and metallic design that is elegant and stylish. It is a little heavier at 4kg than the other robots on this list however it's not too heavy. It feels solid and well-constructed. Mopping is well-designed, and robot vacuum reviews rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. They can even extend up to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
