11 "Faux Pas" That Actually Are Okay To Make With Your Robot Hoover
The Best Robot Hoover

The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detector) are both positives.

Be sure to check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. Internet Page does have an auto-emptying dock, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can completely self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work, or at night when you try to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house via the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Also, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It is a great job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive and a small base station that can't double as a bin to empty.
