Tunable photoluminescence as well as magnetic attributes of Dy(3+) and European(3+) doped GdVO4 dual purpose phosphors.
Both of these patients had other manifestations of SLE. This gave an NPSLE prevalence of 1.5% (2/135) amongst patients with positive ANA, and 0.2% (2/911) amongst all patients who underwent testing for ANA.

The prevalence of NPSLE in patients with psychosis and positive ANA was low at 1.5%. The low rate of clinically significant positive results would argue against routine testing for ANA in psychosis patients.

To assess the impact of anemia on clinical outcomes in female patients enrolled in the Women's InterNational transcatheter aortic valve implantation (WIN-TAVI) registry.

Anemia is highly prevalent among females who constitute half of TAVI candidates, yet, its clinical significance remains poorly investigated.

Patients were divided into three groups according to preprocedural hemoglobin (Hb) level (1) no anemia (Hb ≥12 g/dl), (2) mild-to-moderate anemia (10 ≤ Hb <12 g/dl), and (3) severe anemia (Hb <10 g/dl). The primary outcome was the occurrence of Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC)-2 efficacy endpoint, a composite of mortality, stroke, myocardial infarction (MI), hospitalization for valve-related symptoms or heart failure or valve-related dysfunction at 1-year follow-up.

Hemoglobin level was available in 877 (86.1%) patients 412 (47.0%) had no anemia, 363 (41.4%) had mild-to-moderate anemia, and 102 (11.6%) had severe anemia. The latter group had a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors. Compared with patients without anemia, severe anemia was associated with a greater risk of VARC-2 efficacy endpoint (
HR 1.71, 95% CI 1.02-2.87, p = .04), all-cause death (
HR 2.36, 95% CI 1.31-4.26, p = .004) and a composite of death, MI or stroke (
HR 1.88, 95% CI 1.10-3.22, p = .02) at 1 year. Moreover, an increased risk of late mortality (
HR 1.15, 95% CI 1.02-1.30, p = .03) was observed with every 1 g/dl decrease in hemoglobin level.

Severe anemia in females undergoing TAVI was independently associated with increased rates of VARC-2 efficacy endpoint and mortality at 1 year.

The aim was to investigate the RAS discordance between initial and recurrent metastasectomy specimens in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients treated with chemotherapy (CT) plus biological agents in a first-line setting.

Patients who had been treated with CT plus bevacizumab or cetuximab or panitumumab followed by R0 resection for potentially resectable colorectal cancer liver metastases were scanned. Among these, patients who developed resectable new metastases after a disease-free interval longer than 6months were included in the study. We compared the RAS mutation status between the first biopsy and the second metastasectomy specimen.

A total of 82 mCRC patients treated with CT plus biological agents in a first-line setting were included in the study. The first biopsy assessment showed wild-type RAS tumours in 39 (47.6%) patients and mutant RAS tumours in 43 (52.4%) patients. The mean time for new operable liver metastasis after R0 resection was 15.5months. In the second metastasectomy specimens, the numbers of wild-type and mutant RAS tumours were 30 (36.6%) and 52 (63.4%), respectively. The comparison with the first biopsy specimens showed RAS status conversions in 17 (20.7%) patients. Univariate comparison between patients with and without RAS status conversion revealed that grade, pathological T stage, wild-type RAS tumour and longer biological agent use time in the first-line treatment were significant factors for RAS conversion.

Our results suggest that re-biopsy is needed for an optimal second-line treatment decision in mCRC patients regardless of backbone biological agent, especially in patients with wild-type RAS mCRC.

Severely deformed edentulous ridges in the esthetic zone (EZ) are very difficult to restore with an esthetic fixed dental prosthesis (FDP). Soft tissue augmentation of these deformed ridges can dramatically improve the esthetics of the restoration. The long-term stability of soft tissue grafting used alone to treat severe localized alveolar ridge deformities will be reported.

Three different soft tissue augmentation techniques, connective tissue graft (CTG), keratinized gingival graft (KGG), and pediculated connective tissue graft (PCTG) used to treat severe ridge deformities in the maxillary anterior region in five patients will be described. The stability of the augmentation will be shown at follow-up periods ranging from 5-30 years.

All three soft tissue grafting techniques demonstrated long-term stability following the six-month post-treatment result.

Lipopeptides from the Bacillus spp. EN450 in vitro possess an excellent spectrum of antimicrobial properties which make them suitable candidates to be explored for the food, agricultural, pharmaceutical and biotechnological applications. As the low yield of the lipopeptides limits their applications, methods to enhance their production are highly significant.

In this study, extracts prepared from endophytic Bacillus sp. Fcl1 cultured in the presence of various supplements were screened for antifungal activity against Pythium aphanidermatum. From the results, the supplementation of carbon sources and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) was found to have an enhancement effect on the antifungal activity of Bacillus sp. Fcl1. Among these, the highest antifungal activity (73.2%) could be observed for the Fcl1 sample cultured with 5 mg L
of ZnONP supplementation. The growth of Fcl1 in the presence of ZnONPs also indicated its compatibility with the nano-supplement in the concentration range used. By liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC-Q-TOF-MS) analysis, the synthesis of increased numbers of lipopeptide surfactin derivatives could be identified from the extracts of Fcl1 prepared from the carbon sources and ZnONP-supplemented cultures.
