The present study aimed to establish a better marker for the assessment of coronary artery disease (CAD).

One hundred patients of CAD (aged 20-60 years) of both sex and patients of hypertension with symptoms of CAD were selected for the study.50 age and sex matched healthy controls were chosen for the present study. Serum total cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL-C were estimated in Simens Dimensions RxL. LDL-C, VLDL-C were calculated by Friedwald Formula while non-HDL-C was calculated by subtracting HDL-C level from total cholesterol level. The comparison of non-HDL-C and friedwald calculated LDL-C was made in terms of independent't' test, serum TG levels (TG≤200mg/dl and TG>200mg/dl) and area under receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve.

The non-HDL-C levels (mean±S.D) were higher in both test and control groups to that of the levels of friedwald calculated LDL-C. The area under receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve was significantly higher for non-HDL-C than for friedwald calculae incorporation of non-HDL-C in routine lipid profile panel.

2654 patients planned for coronary diagnostic and intervention procedureswere assessed for inclusion. Inclusion criteria were, all patients planned for coronary angiography (CAG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with palpable ulnar pulse. Exclusion criteria included reverse Barbeau test type D, previous procedure resulting in radial artery occlusion/excision, hemodialysis patients having ipsilateral AV fistula and severe forearm deformities.

2525 patients were found eligible, out of which 2495 (98.81%) were successfully cannulated. Procedure was completed in 2414 patients. Local site bleeding in 40 (1.6%) and acute loss of ulnar pulse noted in 33 (1.3%) out of 2495 patients. None of the patients had gangrene of access site, pseudo-aneurysm, arteriovenous fistula or neurological deficit post procedure.

Since its introduction in 1984, Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomy (PTMC) has become established as a safe and effective treatment for rheumatic Mitral Stenosis (MS).( Ben Farhat etal., 1998) 1 Chronic pressure and volume overload imposed by MS causes left atrial (LA) and Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) dysfunction. Risk of cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is increased approximately 17-fold in patients of MS in Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and is present even in patients of MS in sinus rhythm (SR). This study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of PTMC on LAA function by Trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE) Doppler and Doppler Tissue Imaging (DTI).

Total 70 cases were enrolled in this study. Patients with symptomatic severe MS (Mitral Valve Area <1.5cm2), in SR, who underwent a successful PTMC during the period from May 2016 to May 2019 were selected. All the patients underwent Clinical examination, ECG, detailed TTE and TEE before, immediately after (within 24h) & after 6 months of PTMC.

There was non significant improvement in Left Atrial appendage fractional area change LAAAC (%) immediately Post PTMC but there was significant improvement at 6 months Post PTMC.
