05). Also, by supplementing with 2 mg/ml vitamin B12, DNA fragmentation decreased when compared to the control. The present study showed that cryopreservation medium supplemented with vitamin B12 at 2 mg/ml could improve sperm quality after freeze-thaw process.
Orbital hematolymphoid lesions are rare and usually encountered in elderly patients. Orbital lesions are not easy to biopsy hence fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) can be a very good diagnostic modality for these lesions.
Cases of orbital masses subjected to FNAC dating from 2013 to 2020 were retrieved from our archives. A total of 16 cases with biopsy confirmation were included. All clinical details, the type of procedure, details of the immunocytochemistry (ICC) performed on smear, follow-up biopsy, and their haematological work-up were analysed in detail.
Sixteen biopsy-confirmed cases had been diagnosed as orbital haematolymphoid lesions on cytomorphology and further categorised with ancillary studies including ICC. In twelve instances, the cytology impression was congruent with the histopathological diagnosis and eight of the sixteen cases (50%) proved to be primary orbital lymphoma. Four were secondary orbital lymphomas and the remaining four included one case each of plasmacytoma, myeloid sad therapeutic purposes.
Dihydroresveratrol has been demonstrated to possess a wide spectrum of bioactivities, such as anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of the present study was to investigate the metabolic profiles of dihydroresveratrol in rats.
The in vitro metabolism was elucidated by incubating dihydroresveratrol with rat hepatocytes for 2 h at 37°C. For in vivo metabolism, dihydroresveratrol was orally administered to rats at a single dose of 50 mg/kg and the resulting biliary and urinary samples were collected. All the samples were analyzed by liquid chromatography combined with electrospray ionization high-resolution mass spectrometry. The structures of the metabolites were proposed based on their accurate masses and their MS/MS product ions.
A total of 16 metabolites including three phase I metabolites and 13 phase II metabolites were detected and structurally proposed. Among these metabolites, M6 and M14 were unambiguously identified as 3'-hydroxylresveratrol and resveratrol, respectively, using reference standards. Dihydroresveratrol was mainly metabolized into resveratrol (M14) and a glucuronide conjugate (M12), which were excreted into urine and bile as the major metabolites.
The metabolic pathways of dihydroresveratrol involved hydroxylation, dehydrogenation, glucuronidation, glutathione (GSH) conjugation and methylation. The present study provided useful information with regard to the metabolic profiles of dihydroresveratrol in rats.

Accumulating evidence shows that patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) have globally reduced brain mass, including lower cortical volume and thickness, which largely normalizes following weight restoration. The underlying mechanisms for these processes are unknown, and how age and severity of emaciation are associated with brain morphology in AN is poorly understood. We investigated associations of age, body mass index (BMI) and biochemical parameters with brain morphology among patients in treatment.
We included 85 patients (94% female) aged 12-48 (mean = 23) years with quality controlled magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. T1-weighted MRI images, clinical characteristics and biochemical parameters were retrospectively collected from hospital records. Brain morphology was measured using FreeSurfer, and associations investigated using regression models and correlations.
Controlling for BMI, age showed significant associations with brain morphology generally concordant with typical brain developmental patterns. Controlling for age, BMI showed significant positive associations with cortical volume and thickness. There were no significant interaction effects between age and BMI. None of the biochemical parameters correlated significantly with brain morphology.
Our findings suggest the presence of typical neurodevelopmental patterns in AN. Importantly, we showed that severity of emaciation is related to brain morphology reductions, underscoring the importance of weight restoration.

Selected ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) is versatile, rapidly provides result output and determines a wide range of volatiles, making it suitable for biomedical applications. When direct sampling into the SIFT-MS instrument is impractical, combining thermal desorption (TD) and SIFT-MS might offer a solution as it allows sample storage on sorbent tubes for later analysis. #link# This work compares off-line TD SIFT-MS and real-time SIFT-MS for the quantification of selected breath volatiles.
Ten healthy non-smoking individuals provided 60 breath samples per method. For off-line analysis, breath was collected onto sorbent tubes via a breath sampler provided with filtered inspiratory air. After TD, samples were re-collected in Tedlar bags which were then connected to the SIFT-MS instrument. For real-time analysis, breath was sampled directly into the instrument. In both cases the analytical method included a total of 155 product ions, and 14 selected volatiles were quantified. The agreement between the med.
Real-time SIFT-MS and off-line TD SIFT-MS for quantification of selected breath volatiles did not show optimal agreement. Analyzing Metabolism inhibitor of analytes in breath via direct exhalation into a SIFT-MS instrument for real-time analysis is challenging. On the other hand, off-line analysis using a breath collection device also has its issues such as possible sample losses due to selective absorption depending on the sorbent used or during desorption and transfer to the instrument. Despite these drawbacks, both methods were moderately well correlated.
