To investigate the effect of pathological staging of chorioamnionitis (CA) on complications in preterm infants; METHODS A single-center, retrospective study was conducted to choose singleton preterm infants (gestational age < 37 weeks) from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in our hospital from December 2016 to December 2017. The basic data and placental pathological results were retrospectively collected. According to the placental pathological results of whether inflammation infiltrating amnion, CA 0/I phase was classified into non-amnionitis group, CA II/III phase was classified into amnionitis group, the incidence of common complications in preterm infants was compared. Further, logistic regression was used to analyze the effects of amnionitis on complications after being adjusted to gestational age, birth weight and thrombocytopenia.

A total of 221 preterm infants were enrolled, including 186 cases in non-amnionitis group and 35 cases in amnionitis group. The gestational age of amnionitiuction in gestational age and birth weight in preterm infants, and it is an independent risk factor for IVH.
Phlebotomus pedifer is the vector for Leishmania aethiopica causing cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) in southwestern Ethiopia. Previous research on the transmission dynamics of CL resulted in recommendations for vector control. In order to target these interventions towards affected areas, a comprehensive understanding of the spatial distribution of P. pedifer at high spatial resolution is required. Therefore, this study determined the environmental predictors that facilitate the distribution of P. pedifer and created a map indicating the areas where conditions are suitable for survival of the vector in southwestern Ethiopia with high spatial resolution.

Phlebotomus pedifer presence points were collected during two entomological surveys. Climate, vegetation and topographic variables were assembled. Climate variables were interpolated with variables derived from high-resolution digital elevation models to generate topoclimatic layers representing the climate conditions in the highlands. According to several studies, CYFIP1 regulates the development and function of both pre- and post-synapses in neurons. Furthermore, various studies have evaluated CYFIP2 functions in the postsynaptic compartment, such as regulating dendritic spine morphology; however, no study has evaluated whether and how CYFIP2 affects presynaptic functions. To address this issue, in this study, we have focused on the presynapses of layer 5 neurons of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) in adult Cyfip2 heterozygous (Cyfip2+/-) mice. Electrophysiological analyses revealed an enhancement in the presynaptic short-term plasticity induced by high-frequency stimuli in Cyfip2+/- neurons compared with wild-type neurons. Since presynaptic mitochondria play an important role in buffering presynaptic Ca2+, which is directly associated with the short-term plasticity, we analyzed presynaptic mitochondria using electron microscopic images of the mPFC. Compared with wild-type mice, the number, but not the volume or cristae density, of mitochondria in both presynaptic boutons and axonal processes in the mPFC layer 5 of Cyfip2+/- mice was reduced. Consistent with an identification of mitochondrial proteins in a previously established CYFIP2 interactome, CYFIP2 was detected in a biochemically enriched mitochondrial fraction of the mouse mPFC. Collectively, these results suggest roles for CYFIP2 in regulating presynaptic functions, which may involve presynaptic mitochondrial changes.
Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) remains the most challenging breast cancer subtype so far. Specific therapeutic approaches have rarely achieved clinical improvements in treatment of TNBC patients and effective molecular biomarkers are largely unknown.

We used paired TNBC samples and high throughput RNA sequencing to identify differentially expressed circRNAs. Sucrose gradient polysome fractionation assay, antibody and Mass spectra were used to validate active circRNA translation. The novel protein function was validated in vitro and in vivo by gain or loss of function assays. Mechanistic results were concluded by immunoprecipitation analyses and kinase activity assay.

Circular HER2 RNA (circ-HER2) encoded a novel protein, HER2-103. Unexpectedly, while HER2 mRNA and protein were barely detected, circ-HER2/HER2-103 was expressed in ~ 30% TNBC clinical samples. Neurogenic tumor arising within the pulmonary sequestration (PS) is rare.

A 42-year-old asymptomatic female was referred to our hospital for work-up of extralobar PS. The independent feeding artery from the thoracic aorta was confirmed by three-dimensional computed tomography angiography (3D-CTA). Uniportal thoracoscopic resection of the sequestrated lung with mediastinal lymph node sampling was performed successfully. Ganglioneurofibroma within the PS was diagnosed as the specimen revealed positive expression of SRY-related HMG-box10 protein, neuron-specific enolase, S-100, chromogranin A and synuclein. Tumor recurrence was not recorded 1 year after the surgery.

Preoperative 3D-CTA is useful to identify the aberrant vessels of PS. An elaborate diagnostic work-up after a timely resection is necessary for subsequent management and follow-up plan.
