10 Things We All Love About Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus
Bedside Cot 6 Months Plus

Bedside sleepers let you keep your baby in the same room with you do without the danger of sharing beds, which comes with a higher chance of being suffocated. They are a great option for newborns.

Look for models that have an adjustable height that will fit perfectly on most bed frames. Also look for breathable fabrics that are easy to clean.

www.cots4tots.co.uk can be described as a bassinet that is connected to the bed's side for safe sleeping. It can be used to bring your baby towards you for comfort, feeding or soothing at the end of the night. It's also an excellent alternative if you've have had a c section. It's different from a Moses basket or cot as it has high sides, so your baby can't be pushed out. Some come with a tilt feature which can help babies with reflux and colic. They are also slightly bigger than Moses baskets, which could make them easier to move from room to room.

The NHS and The Lullaby Trust, a safe sleep charity, suggest that newborns be kept in a bassinet or cot in the same room as their parents. They should not be in your bed. This is because bed-sharing increases the chance of suffocation and overheating. Bedside cribs give you the best of both worlds, allowing your baby to be close to you throughout the night, but in their own safe and separate sleeping space.

When choosing a bedside crib, check that it meets the latest safety standards (it must be BS EN 1130:2019) and has no gaps or parts that could cause your child to become trapped. Look for a mattress with a firm, flat surface. A soft or sagging mattress could increase the risk of SIDS, so go for a brand new mattress instead of a second-hand.

Also, make sure you choose bedding that is fitted and free from any loose blankets or pillows. Duvets and pillows can suffocate your baby, while pillows can get stuck to their face. It's best to opt for a fitted sheet however, make sure it's fitted correctly.

Our MFM mom testers have discovered that the SnuzPod4 is an excellent choice for a bedside crib, shortlisted in 2021's Mother&Baby Awards in the best Cot, Crib, or Moses Basket category. It is secured to the bed and it is adjustable to ensure an ideal fit. It also has a rocking feature and can be adjusted to incline for reflux. It is also a great option for those with small or narrow beds, as it does not take up the entire space.

Design

The design of a bedside crib is important because it will be where your baby will spend the majority of their time. There are many cribs available with a variety of colors to suit your decor and include features such as mesh windows that keep baby in view, or sides that drop down that allow for easier access. Some cribs also have incline features to ease reflux.

Many cribs can also be raised and lowered to match the height of your bed, making it easier to get into and out of bed at time of night. Some cribs can serve as travel cots. This is a great option when you're traveling or visiting family.

Leya Leya, an MFM mom and home tester, realized that the SnuzPod 4 was a great fit for her bedroom decor. She also liked its compact fold, which helped save space. She also appreciated that the crib's one side is lowered so that she can pick up her sleeping newborn without having to leave her bed. This is particularly helpful if you have had C-sections or recovering from an Caesarean, as it allows you to sleep close to your newborn for longer.

Jasmine is another mum who liked using the SnuzPod 4. She commented that it was easy to move the crib from one room to another - something she did not find with other bedside cribs. She did mention that the handle was a bit stiff and required a lot of effort to lift the crib.

Another crib that's easy to fold and move is the Tutti Bambini CoZee Air, which was shortlisted for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards for best Cot Crib, Moses Basket. Its slim frame and neutral colors can be incorporated into most bedrooms, although some of our home testers thought the bars were a little too close together, meaning they could get caught on clothing or baby toys. The bars' distance should not exceed 6.5cm (2 inches) in order to keep your baby's head from getting trapped. This crib is also ideal for babies suffering from reflux due to the ComfortAir air-tight system helps regulate body temperature.

Comfort

Staying close to your baby all night will give you peace of mind, but you must be capable of reaching them quickly to feed them in the middle of the night. With a crib at your bedside, you can do this without getting out of bed. These cribs make it easy to help babies sleep. If you'd like to sleep with your baby, but aren't keen on the idea of having to get out of bed for every feeding, a moses basket is a better choice.

Most cribs with a bedside are attached to the bedside, so you are able to easily see and reach your baby. They typically come with a mesh window, which allows you to observe your baby without having to disturb them. You may also find an option for reflux that aids with reflux and colic.

This crib comes with a wide range of features, but we're most impressed by the ComfortAir mattress that is breathable and regulates your baby's body temperature and maximizes airflow. It's a little smaller than some other cribs for bedside use and can be useful in areas where space is scarce. However, our mum testers agree that it's still an excellent choice for those long nights.

The cot is secured to the bed's side using adjustable straps. This eliminates the risk of gaps where your child can get trapped. It has a firm, flat mattress that complies with safety standards and promotes healthy sleeping habits.

It is important to be aware that your baby is likely to leave their crib when they're able to sit upright, which is usually about six months old. It's crucial to put your child in a cot or a different sleeping arrangement, once they outgrow their crib.

Another feature to take into consideration is how light the crib is and if it's suitable for travelling. Some of our mothers are thrilled that this crib can easily be disassembled to transport it however, others find it difficult to assemble. It isn't easy to clean so you will have to clean it regularly with a cleaning product and a cloth.

Storage

A bedside cot for 6 months plus is an upholstered bassinet cot that can be fixed to the bed's side for a safe and secure co-sleeping. These are great for soothing babies to sleep, night feedings and allowing mums who had a c-section to keep their baby close.

It is essential to select cribs that are in line with the current safety standards. Verify that the bars on the crib are spaced sufficiently apart to prevent your child's head from being trapped. Also, ensure that any drop-down side is secured and doesn't open accidentally. Also, avoid any stickers or transfers on the cot's surface as they could be an choking hazard.

Emily's favorite bedside cot for her baby is the Next2me Magic. It was selected for the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards in the categories of Best Crib or Cot and Best Moses Basket. It's a great size and has lots of storage space to store everything your baby needs. It's also small and light enough to be able to fit into a bag for travel, should you want to move it around. If you're seeking something a bit more simple, she suggests the Shnuggle Air on the side of the crib.
