What Will Small Bedside Cot Be Like In 100 Years?
A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

If you're looking to keep baby as close as possible to him at night, but not have to leave the bed, a crib for bed is the perfect solution. The fabric is breathable, which lets you easily see your baby and they're super easy to lower for those bleary-eyed 3am feedings.

Some double as a moses's basket.

What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib (also called a co-sleeper or bassinet) is a small baby crib that can be attached to your adult bed, allowing your infant to sleep comfortably next to you. This is a secure form of co-sleeping, which does not increase the risk of SIDS like bedsharing. It can also help you bond with your newborn baby.

These cots often come with a side that can be lowered, so you can easily reach your baby at night to feed and comforting. This is particularly helpful for mums recovering from the c-section. Many of them are foldable or portable making them suitable to travel or as a temporary solution for newborns who aren't quite ready to transition to a larger crib.

When shopping for a crib that is bedside Choose a crib with a breathable mattress and a cover to shield your infant from staining. It is also advisable to pick up some baby-safe add-ons like a blanket, teether and cuddly toys.

If you're looking for a longer-term solution Some cribs have conversion kits that let you convert them into a toddler bed or cot when the time is right. This is a great way to extend their life span and making the transition smoother. Some even have a detachable top section that converts into a bassinet, while others can be used on the regular or high-rise adult bed. This is a great option for families who plan on frequently traveling or switching rooms during the night. Consider the dimensions of your bedroom to ensure you be able to fit in the crib comfortably. A lot of cribs have a riser that can be used to create an incline for babies who have reflux.

The Joie Roomie Glide

Known for their high-quality baby products, English brand Joie has stepped into the world of cribs for bedside use with the Roomie Glide. This co-sleeper was designed to help parents bond and sleep side-by-side with their babies, without sharing the same bed. It is full of features that make bonding between parent and baby safe, simple and enjoyable.

A smooth, steady rocking motion could be initiated by pressing a button. This will help soothe your baby to sleep with a gentle rhythm that doesn't disrupt their normal sleeping routine. This is great for toddlers and older infants who are struggling to settle and can help with digestion problems such as reflux and colic.

bedside crib and travel cot can also be fixed to the side of the bed using a strap and clip attachment. This makes it stable and secure, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful night's sleep without having to worry about your baby rolling off into the middle of the room. The rounded shape of the cocoon is complemented by softly padded side panels and double mesh windows on both ends. This allows airflow while ensuring your baby's safety.

The mattress is soft and comfortable, and has an easily removable cover. The lightweight aluminium frame makes the crib very portable and easy to assemble. The four wheels that lock are covered in rubber to ensure the crib won't leave marks on your floor and are easy to move around. The crib is easy to clean due to the wipeable woven fabric and is able to be easily tucked away in a bag for overnight stays.

The TuttiBambini CoZee Air

This superior model is designed to be a safe, baby-sitter from birth to 6 months. It comes with bars that rock to allow for easy mobility, as well as castors. Its deluxe airflow mattress offers an incredibly comfortable sleeping surface, while ventilation panels keep your baby cool. There are 6 different height settings and an incline option that can help with congestion and reflux.

Unlike some bedside cribs, which can be a nightmare to clean due to their constant stream of snot and dribble, the Tutti Bambini CoZee Air comes with a wipe-clean liner and fabric that can be washed in the machine. It also comes with a top bar that can be easily lowered to accommodate feedings at night without having to fiddle with zips.

Anna discovered that the CoZee could provide a safe, cozy sleeping place for her baby. She was pleased that it didn't rock like some other models, meaning it didn't wake her up at night while she was trying to soothe her baby for feeds. She also enjoyed the fact that the side could be lowered so she didn't need to reach out over her partner to carry the baby out for feedings at night.

The CoZee comes in oak or charcoal and is a chic option for any bedroom. It's more modern than the other cribs we've tested and are typically utilitarian. It's also quite light at just 11kg. It also comes with a carrying case, so you can take it on holiday or when you are moving home. It's all you need to buy is an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap for co-sleeping. There are helpful step-by-step instructions and photos to guide you through the process as you open the box, making it a one-person task should you need to.

The Maxi-Cosi Lora

The Iora is an infant bassinet designed to make parents feel connected with their baby as they sleep. It can be adjusted up and down and shifted through three different slide positions, to fit beside the parent's bed or in the corner so the baby is always in reach. The mesh siding allows air to flow through, and allows you to quickly see your baby. You can also store additional pajamas and other items in the large storage basket beneath.

The Iora is a smaller bedside cot that can fold flat. It also comes with a travel case so it can be carried anywhere. Our mum testers found it easy to move from room to room, and believed it was a great size for a small bedside cot, not too big or too small. The large storage basket is ideal to store extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great choice for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping bed, but don't wish to share their bed. Or if one of the partners suffers from mobility issues like arthritis or back pain. Our mum testers love the convenience of being able to access their child in the Iora and it also has an option to tilt the bed upwards to aid in reducing gas.

Our mums love that it follows NICE guidelines. They recommend placing an infant in a Moses basket or crib on its own without toys, blankets, pillows etc. The mattress is also a good firm and comfortable for babies and sheets are readily available. It isn't as light as the other cribs that are smaller, though it is a good choice if you are looking for something lighter and easier to move around, consider one of the other options in our list.
