The 12 Best Bedside Crib And Travel Cot Accounts To Follow On Twitter
Bedside Crib and Travel Cot

Bedside cribs resemble a bassinet and are connected to the side of a bed. They typically have one side that can be dropped down for easy access, and some have an incline option that is ideal for reflux babies.

MFM tester Georgina said that this crib was simple to put together, and the instructions were clear. It was a fast build. It also folds down to an extremely compact size and comes with a handy bag for travel.

Easy to assemble

They are small and easy to set up, meaning they can be placed close to your bed. They are also lighter, which makes them more mobile. Georgina one of our MFM home test participants, praised the Maxi-Cosi Lora for being "super straightforward to put together with clear instructions and easy zips." The crib can be used as a portable travel crib, and it comes with a convenient bag. It has multiple mesh openings for ventilation, and its adjustable height allows it to fit any mattress.

Some cribs with a bedside have an additional side panel that can be raised, allowing the ability to be close to your baby without having to get out of bed. This is a great choice for mothers who are breastfeeding, or those who want to stay close to their infant during the night, but don't wish to take on the risk of co-sleeping.

Most models come with built-in functions that allow you to rock your baby. This can be a comforting experience for your baby, and can help them fall asleep. Some cribs have a recline position that can be beneficial in the case of reflux or colic. These should only be used under supervision, and a health professional or a GP should be consulted before trying this position.

Many cribs for bed have a canopy over them to shield your baby from light or noise, which can be helpful in keeping them peaceful. Some cribs come with an under-bed storage space that is perfect for storing extra blankets, diapers and clothing for your child.

Many bedside cribs are convertible into toddler beds or standalone cots. This is a major selling factor for families with children. MFM's 2021 Mother and Baby Awards winner The Joie Roomie Go for instance, comes with side panels that can be removed as well as conversion kits and a tummy tilt that make it versatile enough for travelling. It also has five different height adjustments to match your bed. It was loved by our MFM home testers for being simple to assemble, comfortable and compact. The Graco Play Yard (also known as a pack and play) is another favorite, and was shortlisted in the 2022 Mother&Baby Awards.

Cosy and comfortable

You can watch your child from the comfort of your bed with a crib that is placed at your bedside. It's a great choice for mothers who are recovering from a C-section since it is easy to lift your infant towards you to feed them at the night or change their nappies without getting out of your bed. And the cosiest cribs also have mesh sides that are breathable so which you can see your baby through.

Some cribs allow you to lower the barrier completely. This lets you co-sleep with no risk. (Make sure that the model chosen meets the current safety requirements). Some allow you to lower the barrier but raise it after you've lifted baby out, which is ideal for parents who have an apprehension of their baby falling off the edge of their mattress.

The Luah, which won the Mother&Baby Awards Best Cot or Moses Basket in 2021, is designed to clip on to divans and beds however, it requires a longer strap (check your specs to make sure that your bed can accommodate). The spacious design comes with an opening side panel and a perforated bottom with a patented design that provides air cushioning that increases air flow. There's also an integrated reflux setting and the ability to swivel 360 degrees, allowing you to move the crib according to the preferred position of your baby.

If you're looking for something a little smaller the Tutti Bambini CoZee is a stylish option with oak legs and clever fabric options to complement your decor. It's also extremely easy to assemble as Georgina, who took part in our MFM tests assembled it quickly and didn't even need to read the instructions. It's also a good travel cot, folding down flat before slipping into a bag for easy storage.

The Next2me Magic, which was shortlisted for the Best Cot, Crib or Moses Basket at the 2021 Mother&Baby Awards, is also on the larger side however it is still compact and easy to fit to your bed. Georgina also found it easy to assemble although she thought the instructions could have been clearer about the zips.

Easy to clean

Find cribs with mattress covers which can be washed in the machine when you are looking at cribs for bed or travel cots. This will keep it clean and free of dribbles leaky diapers, and spit-up. It's important to select a model that is able to be disassembled and partially dismantled, so you can get into all the corners and crevices to conduct a thorough cleaning and sanitising.

This is important, as it's the best way to ensure that all dirt and germs have been eliminated. Check that the sides of the crib are securely attached so that your baby cannot fall down or get trapped.

Apart from being easy to clean, you'll want an infant crib that is comfortable for your baby and will fit comfortably into your own bed. This is especially important if you're using a bedside crib to facilitate co-sleeping. These cribs are designed to be connected securely to the parent's side, allowing parents to have easy access to their child at night to feed and comfort them while maintaining the security that separate sleeping surfaces offer.

When choosing a crib for your bedside it is important to consider whether it has additional features that could be beneficial to you. Some cribs tilt or rock, which is ideal for babies who are a bit fussy.

Also, you should make sure that your crib or travel cot has a firm and flat mattress that fits snugly in the frame. This will decrease the chance of SIDS by ensuring that your baby's head and feet don't slide down into any gaps or folds in the bedding.

It's also recommended to purchase a new mattress for your crib or travel cot instead of using one that was passed down from someone else or purchased second-hand. Used mattresses are more prone to lose their shape with time which increases the risk of SIDS. All new cribs must meet BS EN1130:2019. This is the most recent standard that introduces stricter requirements to ensure safe and effective sleep solutions.

Versatile

A bedside crib (or co-sleeping crib as they're sometimes referred to) attaches to your bed to allow you to reach your baby easily at night without having to get out of your own sleeping area. They can also be used as standalone cribs in the daytime. Most have a side panel which can be adjusted so that you can see your baby and touch him. Some cribs allow you to put the side panel down at night. This allows you to be close and convenient with your baby, while minimizing the risks of sharing the bed. Some cribs can also be converted into a travel cot, or include additional features such as tilting, rocking (use with caution, be sure to speak to your GP about this) or changing into a baby cot for older children or playpen.

The SnuzPod 4 crib is popular for a variety of reasons, not just due to its sleek, modern design. bedside crib and cot comes with six height adjustments, and a handy storage shelf. It's also a bit heavier and bulkier than many of our more travel-friendly cribs and comes in an attractive bag that keeps it dust-free and clean when stored.

The instructions are clear and there's a useful toolkit included to assist you. It's also easy to clean with the mattress cover that is machine washable and breathable fabric. It has a few more amenities than other bedside cribs we've tried, such as an anti-reflux incline as well as a rocking function and a storage pocket.

bedside crib with wheels says that this crib is fantastic because it's "easy to reach the baby in the middle of the night for a peaceful feeding and larger than most Moses Baskets, which means it will last a longer period of time before my son grows out". She also likes that it's easy to wipe down and feels durable and well-made. It's designed to fit on a divan bed, which makes it an ideal option for those with small space. It also comes with an easy-to-carry bag that you can carry around when traveling. A perfect all-rounder.
