Moreover, the present study showed that there is a sex-related difference among women and men in lumbar lordosis during STS and SIT tasks.Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of adding the integrated neuromuscular inhibition technique (INIT) to therapeutic exercise (TE) in individuals with chronic mechanical neck pain (CMNP). Methods In this 34-week, assessor-blind randomized controlled trial, 40 participants (men and women) with CMNP with active or latent myofascial trigger points on the neck muscles were divided into 2 groups. The participants followed 4 treatments per week for 10 weeks. The intervention group followed a TE program in combination with the INIT, whereas the control group followed the same program without the INIT. Both protocols were applied by physiotherapists. Pain, disability, pressure pain threshold, active range of motion, and health-related quality of life were evaluated before, during, and after the intervention, whereas patients were followed for 6 months after completion of treatment. Repeated-measures ANOVA was applied. Results Both groups showed a significant improvement in all dependent measures after the intervention (P less then .05). However, the intervention group showed greater improvement in the visual analog scale and neck disability index score, in the neck muscles pressure pain threshold, in the range of motion, and in the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey score, than the control group. In many of the above variables this improvement was seen from the second week and was maintained for 6 months after the intervention. Conclusion The results of this preliminary study suggest that the addition of the INIT to a TE program had a positive effect on pain, functionality, and the quality of life in individuals with CMNP.Objective Lumbar mobilization is a standard intervention for the management of low back pain, yet ways to quantify lumbar mobilization are limited. An inertial measurement unit (IMU) is a small and inexpensive device that can be used to quantify lumbar mobilization. The objective of this study was to determine the validity and reliability of an IMU in measuring the amplitude of displacement of a clinician's hand movement during oscillatory lumbar mobilization. Methods An IMU was secured on a clinician's hand during application of mobilization forces at the L4 segment of 16 healthy participants. The validity of the IMU was tested against common laboratory methods of measurements (force plate and motion capture system). The reliability of the IMU measurements was determined between 2 clinicians (inter-rater reliability) and between 2 sessions (intra-rater reliability) by calculating percent error of measurement (%e) and limits of agreement (LOA). The reliability was considered high when |%e| ≤ 10% and |LOA| ≤ 20%; moderate when |%e| 10% to 20% and |LOA| 21% to 40%; and non-acceptable when |%e| > 20% and |LOA| > 40%. Results The IMU measurements had high correlation with the force plate measurements (rs = 0.94) and high agreement with the motion capture system measurements (%e = 4%, LOA = -11% and 20%). Both the inter-rater reliability (%e = 6%, LOA = -25% and 37%) and the intrarater reliability (%e = -1%, LOA = -29% and 27%) of IMU measurements were moderate. Conclusion The IMU seems to be a valid device to measure the amplitude of a clinician's hand movement. The moderate reliability found in this study may not reflect poor reliability of the IMU as much as inconsistency in reapplication of lumbar mobilization.Background and aim Fire is one of the major dangers that cause many casualty, injuries and property damages every year worldwide. Most of these losses occur in low- and middle-income countries. Exploring the stakeholders experience is a great source for understanding factors affecting the prevention of fires and its related injuries. The purpose of this study then is understanding the perception of safety from fire related injuries in residential inhabitants of buildings in Iran. Methods This study was conducted using conventional content analysis during December 2016 to December 2017. In total, 25 interviewees were selected through purposive sampling among experienced/or knowledgeable participants. Data was collected employing semi-structured interviews. The data analysis process was based on the Lundman & Graneheim method and their recommendations. Findings The six categories including safe building against fire, fire safety regulations, safety-friendly people, effective relief organizations, safe urban structure and economic and financial capacity was extracted. Conclusion Fire safety in residential buildings with the demanding people for safety is ensured that having such city requires multidisciplinary function with a holistic approach. Further investigation to explore the process of fire safety for residential buildings is recommended.Objectives Rib fractures are common and carry significant morbidity. Chest CT provides an accurate mapping of the fractures. The aim of this study is to propose an anatomical classification of rib fractures, and assess their relation to complication development. Method The records of all blunt trauma patients between January 1st 2014 and December 31st 2017 at a university hospital were retrospectively reviewed. Wounded who were hospitalized with rib fractures (two and more) as the primary injury were included in the study.
