There are limited real-world data on the prescribing of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

This was a retrospective analysis of the CoDiC® database of the Japan Diabetes Clinical Data Management Study Group (JDDM). Demographic and clinical characteristics, concomitant treatment patterns, and GLP-1 RA treatment persistence or modification in patients with T2DM initiating GLP-1 RA therapy were evaluated.

The analysis included 932 eligible patients with T2DM who had their first GLP-1 RA prescription (index date) between September 2016 and July 2018. Mean age was 63.8years and 56.0% were male. Most patients had an index GLP-1 RA of dulaglutide (65.7%) or liraglutide (29.1%). Common comorbidities were obesity (58.7%), hypertension (54.7%), dyslipidemia (52.0%), retinopathy (11.3%), and nephropathy (10.2%). Mean hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels decreased from 8.3 to 7.8% over 6months after GLP-1 RA initiation, and the proportion of patients acractice.
The study shows real-world benefits of GLP-1 RA therapy for T2DM, including improvements in HbA1c, body weight, and blood lipid profile, and supports the high rates of long-term persistence previously reported with dulaglutide, the GLP-1 RA most commonly prescribed for T2DM in Japanese clinical practice.
Metastatic tumors to the breast reportedly account for 0.5% to 2.0% of all malignant breast diseases. Such metastatic tumors must be differentiated from primary breast cancer. Additionally, few reports have described metastases of gynecological cancers to the breast. We herein report two cases of metastasis of pelvic high-grade serous adenocarcinoma to the breast.

The first patient was a 57-year-old woman with a transverse colon obstruction. Colostomy was performed, but the cause of the obstruction was unknown. We found scattered white nodules disseminated throughout the abdominal cavity and intestinal surface. Follow-up contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) showed an enhanced nodule outside the right mammary gland. Core needle biopsy (CNB) of the right breast mass was conducted, and immunohistochemical staining of the mass suggested a high-grade serous carcinoma of female genital tract origin. We diagnosed the patient's condition as breast and lymph node metastasis of a high-grade serous carcinoma o female genital tract origin. CNB was useful for confirming the histological diagnosis of these cancers that had originated from other organs. A correct diagnosis of such breast tumors is important to ensure quick and appropriate treatment.

In Egypt, many restrictions were made on the cultivation of rice due to its high-water demand. Producing promising drought-tolerant rice cultivars combined with high yielding is one of the main targets for rice breeders. A set of 22 highly diverse rice genotypes were evaluated under normal and drought conditions. Morphological, physiological, and yield traits were recorded on each genotype. Drought susceptibility index (DSI) was estimated for six yield traits to identify the most drought-tolerant rice genotypes. A high genetic variation was found among genotypes tested in the experiment. Under normal conditions, the highest phenotypic correlation was found between grain yield (GY) and sterility percentage (SP) (- 0.73**), while it was among GY and chlorophyll content (CC) (0.82**) under drought conditions. We performed whole exome sequencing (WES), in a Greek patient with sporadic generalized dystonia. Additionally, we performed a systematic review of all published cases with KMT2B variants. The patient presented with isolated and mild generalized dystonia. We identified a novel splice site variant that was confirmed by Sanger sequencing and was not found in parents. This is the first reported KMT2B variant, in the Greek population. This case report further highlights the growing trend of identifying genetic diseases previously restricted to few cases in many different ethnic groups worldwide via exome sequencing. In the systematic review, we evaluated the mutation pathogenicity in all previously reported cases to investigate possible phenotype-genotype correlations.
