Although no single treatment is ideal for all patients with presbyopia, new medical and surgical strategies increase the number of options available when addressing different stages of presbyopia and dysfunctional lens syndrome. [J Refract Surg. 2021;37(6 Suppl)S28-S34.].Coniferiporia, belonging to Hymenochaetaceae and recently segregated from Phellinidium, is a wood-inhabiting fungal genus with three species, each having a specific geographic distribution and a strong host specificity as a forest pathogen of coniferous trees. In this study, the species diversity of Coniferiporia is further clarified with the aid of a wider sampling and multilocus-based phylogenetic analysis, which reveals a new species C. uzbekistanensis. The molecular clock and ancestral geographic origin analyses indicates that the ancestor of Coniferiporia emerged in one of the Pinaceae and Cupressaceae and then jumped to the other plant family originated in eastern Eurasia 17.01 million years ago (Mya) (95% highest posterior density 9.46-25.86 Mya) and later extended its distribution to western North America, Central Asia and eastern Europe. Coniferiporia sulphurascens speciated on Pinaceae in eastern Eurasia 8.78 Mya (9.46-25.86 Mya) and then extended its distribution to western North America and eastern Europe. Coniferiporia qilianensis and C. uzbekistanensis speciated on Juniperus przewalskii in eastern Eurasia 3.67 Mya (0.36-8.02 Mya) and on J. polycarpos in Central Asia 4.35 Mya (0.94-8.37 Mya), respectively. The speciation event of C. see more weirii occurred 4.45 Mya (0.77-9.33 Mya) right after the emergence of its host, the endemic Cupressaceae species Thuja plicata, and soon after, this fungus evolved to also inhabit another endemic Cupressaceae species Calocedrus decurrens. In summary, this study for the first time unambiguously clarified and timed the adaptive evolutionary event of Coniferiporia in association with its biogeography and host plants.Juglans sigillata Dode (Iron walnut) is mostly distributed in southwestern China, and valued for wood and nuts (Feng et al. 2018). In April 2020, we surveyed a walnut garden located in Baisha Town, Wanyuan City, (Sichuan, China), where brown spot symptoms were observed on leaves of ten trees among of 100 plants, and this disease can result in a reduced growth potential when trees are severely infected. Necrotic and subcircular lesions with conidiamata were observed on diseased leaves. Symptomatic leaves were collected and taken back to the laboratory forfurther analysis. Using the single spore isolation technique developed by Chomnunti et al. (2014), five isolates were grown from the infected leaves on Potato Dextrose Agar medium (PDA). The five isolates had similar colony morphology, which was initially white, suborbicular, gradually turning yellowish with black spots, developing fluffy aerial mycelium. Morphological characteristics were examined using light microscopy on the PDA. Conidiogenous cells were suJ. cinerea, J. hindsii, J. major, J. mandshurica, J. nigra, and J. regia (Farr & Rossman 2020). However, to our knowledge, this is the first report of O. leptostyla causing brown leaf spot on J. sigillata. J. sigillata is an economically important tree in southwest China, and fungicide treatments should be considered to prevent the spread of this fungus before it becomes more widespread. Chunlin Yang, Yu Deng, and Feihu Wang contributed equally to this work. This research was supported by the Key Research and Development Project of Sichuan Province (2021YFYZ0032).Enterobacter asburiae is the causal agent of rice bacterial palea browning disease. Here, we report the complete genome of Enterobacter asburiae strain SD4L, which represents the first whole genome sequence of an isolate from rice seedlings in China. The assembled genome consisted of two contigs, with a circular chromosome of 4,574,166 bp, and a plasmid of 85,271 bp, respectively. This complete genome will provide a valuable resource for further studies on bacterial palea browning worldwide. In mid-August 2020, small circular tan-colored lesions were detected in leaves of corn, Zea mays, in Sussex county Delaware. Symptoms were observed in many fields, affecting multiple hybrids that were at approximately the dough growth stage (R4). Lesions were present on most plants and individual ear leaf severity ratings ranged from 3 to 14 %. Symptomatic corn leaves were selected from the field and kept in a moist chamber for 24 hrs at 25 °C. In lesions, melanized spores were observed ranging from 21.94 µm to 30.51 µm in length and 7.83µm to 11.70µm in width (n=20). One cm2 leaf sections were extracted and sterilized in a 0.85% sodium hypochlorite solution for 30s followed by a sterile water rinse for 30s. Leaf pieces were then plated onto potato dextrose agar amended with 50µg/ml penicillin-G-sodium salt and streptomycin sulfate. Petri dishes were incubated at 25 °C with a 12-hr photoperiod for 14 days. Colonies were brown-black to lighter gray in color. Media was stained from orange, to dark brown, or notnderson et al. 2019). This is the first report of Curvularia leaf spot on corn in Delaware. Symptoms developed late in the season, so it is unlikely that yield was affected in 2020. However, the economic impact of this disease in the United States is still unclear, it will be important to monitor potential impacts of this disease in Delaware corn production. This study explored women's experiences of sexual victimization by correctional staff while on parole and used a case study approach to examine sexual victimization incidents experienced by ten women. Women described how staff's misuse of power permeated the abuse tactics. Officers used their status to gain access to women, applied individualized tactics with promises and threats, and controlled when the abuse ended. Practices and policies are needed to build safety for women under community-based correctional supervision.
