This meta-analysis further determined the beneficial effects of acupuncture on T2DM with cognitive impairment.

The purpose of this meta-analysis was to explore the effect of acupuncture on patients T2DM with and cognitive impairment patients, and provide more options for clinicians and patients to treat T2DM with cognitive impairment.

This systematics review will evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of T2DM with cognitive impairment. Since all the data included were published, the systematic review did not require ethical approval.

The pathophysiology of sarcopenia is complex and must be further explored. While metabolic acidosis may be a risk factor for sarcopenia, it remains unclear whether acidic urine is related to sarcopenia. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the association between sarcopenia and urine pH in the elderly. An elderly population (n = 123 [male = 46]; mean age = 81.7 years) was classified into 2 groups based on the sarcopenia status according to their strength, requirement of assistance in walking, their ability to rise from a chair their ability to climb stairs, and their history of falls. Urinalysis was measured using dipstick tests. The sarcopenia group (n = 32) was significantly older, had less exercise habit and showed a lower urine pH (mean pH = 5.5) in comparison to the nonsarcopenia group (mean pH = 6.2, P < .01). A multivariate analysis that was adjusted for age, male sex, body mass index, uro-renal variables and exercise habit revealed that urine pH (odds ratio, 0.43; 95% confidence inteory of falls. Urinalysis was measured using dipstick tests. The sarcopenia group (n = 32) was significantly older, had less exercise habit and showed a lower urine pH (mean pH = 5.5) in comparison to the nonsarcopenia group (mean pH = 6.2, P  less then  .01). A multivariate analysis that was adjusted for age, male sex, body mass index, uro-renal variables and exercise habit revealed that urine pH (odds ratio, 0.43; 95% confidence interval, 0.22-0.85, P = .02), age and less exercise habit were independently and significantly associated with sarcopenia. The findings of the present study suggest a potential association between metabolic acidosis and the pathophysiology of sarcopenia in the elderly. read more As urine pH is a simple biomarker that can be obtained using dipstick tests, it is therefore expected to be helpful for detecting sarcopenia in the clinical setting.
Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is one of the most serious complications after diabetes poor control, which seriously threatens human life, health, and safety. DKA can rapidly develop within hours or days leading to death. Early evaluation of the prognosis of DKA patients and timely and effective intervention are very important to improve the prognosis of patients. The combination of several variables or characteristics is used to predict the poor prognosis of DKA, which can allocate resources reasonably, which is beneficial to the early classification intervention and clinical treatment of the patients.

For the acquisition of required data of eligible prospective/retrospective cohort study or randomized controlled trials (RCTs), we will search for publications from PubMed, Web of science, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Google scholar, China national knowledge infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang and China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP). Two independent reviewers will read the full English text of the articles, screened and selected carefully, removing duplication. Then we evaluate the quality and analyses data by Review Manager (V.5.4). Results data will be pooled and meta-analysis will be conducted if there's 2 eligible studies considered.

This systematic review and meta-analysis will evaluate the value of the prediction models for the prognosis of DKA in the emergency department.

This systematic review and meta-analysis will provide clinical basis for predicting the prognosis of DKA. It helps us to understand the value of predictive models in evaluating the early prognosis of DKA. The conclusions drawn from this study may be beneficial to patients, clinicians, and health-related policy makers.

The arrival of transcatheter mitral valve therapies has provided feasible and safe alternatives to medical and surgical treatments for mitral regurgitation. The aim of this study is to estimate the relative efficacy and safety of exercise training in patients with corrected tetralogy of Fallot through meta-analysis.

A systematic search will be performed using PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CBM, CNKI, WanFang Data, and VIP to include random controlled trials or nonrandom controlled trials comparing the efficacy and safety of exercise training in corrected tetralogy of Fallot patients. The risk of bias for the included nonrandom controlled studies will be evaluated according to Risk of Bias in Nonrandomized Studies of Interventions. We will use the Cochrane Collaboration's tool (version 2 of the Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized trials) to assess risk of bias of included random controlled trials. Revman 5.4 and STATA 15.0 will be used to complete the meta-analysis and generate forest plots. Grading of recommendations assessment, development, and evaluation will be used to assess the quality of evidence.

The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication.

This study will provide broad evidence of efficacy and safety of exercise training in patients with corrected tetralogy of Fallot and provide suggestions for clinical practice and future research.

Evidence from trials demonstrating the benefits and risks of low-glycemic index and fat-restricted diets in weight loss and blood lipid profile changes is unclear. This study aimed to assess the implemented and effects of a fat-restricted low-glycemic index diet on weight control and blood lipid profile changes in in overweight/obese Southwest Chinese individualst. This prospective pilot study enrolled overweight/obese subjects at the People's Hospital of Sichuan Province between February and July 2019. The daily energy intake was reduced by 300 to 500 kcal according to the participant's weight and activity level, with low-glycemic index carbohydrate- and fat-energy ratios < 45% and 25% to 30%, respectively. Participants received guidance for 3 months by telephone follow-up, internet interaction, or WeChat. Changes in weight, body composition, and blood profile were measured.A total of 254 patients were finally analyzed, including 101 males and 153 females. After adjusting for potential confounders, weight (P < .
