The relationships between significant volume changes and features of opioid use disorder were tested using Pearson correlation. Long-term opioid agonist treatment was associated with the enlargement of the right caudate nucleus, which was related to the duration of opioid use disorder. In contrast, reduced volume in the right amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex and orbitofrontal cortex were found that were related to opioid dose, onset of opioid consumption and state anxiety. These findings suggest that long-term opioid agonist treatment is related to structural changes in key brain regions underlying binge/intoxication, withdrawal/negative affect and preoccupation/anticipation, suggesting sustained interaction between these systems.The reproductive life phase, most notably the preconception, pregnancy and postpartum periods, is a key driver of weight gain in women and therefore substantially increases the risk of noncommunicable diseases for mothers and their offspring. The ecological systems theory (EST) model for maternal obesity prevention positions the woman and her behaviour as interacting with surrounding layers of influences, including proximal interpersonal relationships embedded within social, environmental, and policy contexts. However, current thinking and use of the EST model for maternal obesity prevention are limited by a focus on women as being responsible for lifestyle change, with the associated blame and weight stigma, and by a lack of understanding of the interactions between EST layers. This paper presents a new socioecological framework for maternal obesity prevention, which aims to address these issues and offer potential strategies to assist researchers to generate new knowledge and understanding of the myriad ways we can approach maternal obesity prevention.
Retention in preventive care among at-risk men who have sex with men (MSM) is critical for successful prevention of HIV acquisition in Africa. We assessed loss to follow-up (LTFU) rates and factors associated with LTFU in an HIV vaccine feasibility cohort study following MSM with access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in coastal Kenya.

Between June 2017 and June 2019, MSM cohort participants attending a research clinic 20km north of Mombasa were offered daily PrEP and followed monthly for risk assessment, risk reduction counselling and HIV testing. Participants were defined as LTFU if they were late by >90days for their scheduled appointment. Participants who acquired HIV were censored at diagnosis. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate adjusted Hazard Ratio (aHR) of risk factors for LTFU.

A total of 179 participants with a median age of 25.0years (interquartile range [IQR] 23.0 to 30.0) contributed a median follow-up time of 21.2months (IQR 6.5 to 22.1). Of these, 143 (79.9%) partp, irrespective of PrEP use. Research preparedness involving MSM should be strengthened for HIV prevention intervention evaluations in coastal Kenya.

Controlling the synthetic procedures, we were able to obtain nanoparticles (NPs) offering highly intense signal, using tri-n-propylamine (TPrA) as coreactant, with bio-Triton@RuNps being more efficient than bio-Igepal@RuNP.

A literature search was undertaken to review available published research papers, unpublished reports and anecdotal media information in the period 2000-2020 to assess the burden and pattern of alcohol use and appraise alcohol control policies in India.

The per-capita alcohol consumption among individuals aged 15+ years was 5.7 L, which increased over time. Prevalence of alcohol use varied across states with considerable impact on the nation. Regulatory policies and alcohol control programs vary across Indian states, with poor enforcement and implementation. CP-690550 cell line Taxation and pricing policies are revenue oriented. Men who have sex with men (MSM) and transgender women (TGW) experience high incidence and prevalence of sexually transmitted infections (STI), and data are needed to understand risk factors for STIs in these populations. The Sibanye Health Project was conducted in Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, South Africa from 2015 to 2016 to develop and test a package of HIV prevention interventions for MSM and TGW. We describe the incidence, prevalence and symptoms of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT), Neisseria gonorrhea (NG) and syphilis observed during the study.

Participants completed HIV testing at baseline. All participants who were HIV negative were followed prospectively. Additionally, a sample of participants identified as living with HIV at baseline was selected to be followed prospectively so that the prospective cohort was approximately 20% HIV positive; the remaining participants identified as HIV positive at baseline were not followed prospectively. Prospective participants were followed for 12months and returned for clinic-based STI/HIV testing and assessment of STI symptoms at months 6 and 12.
