Endemic as well as cell metabolic rate: explanation for as well as treatment for disease?
Fresh frozen plasma (FFP) contains proinflammatory mediators released from cellular debris during frozen storage. In addition, recent studies have shown that transfusion of never-frozen plasma (NFP), instead of FFP, may be superior in trauma patients. We hypothesized that FFP would have higher levels of inflammatory mediators when compared to NFP.

FFP (n=8) and NFP (n=8) samples were obtained from an urban, level 1 trauma center blood bank. The cytokines in these samples were compared using a Milliplex (Milliplex Sigma) human cytokine magnetic bead panel multiplex assay for 41 different biomarkers.

Growth factors that were higher in NFP included platelet-derived growth factor-AA (PDGF-AA; 8.09 versus 108.00 pg/mL, P < 0.001) and PDGF-AB (0.00 versus 215.20, P= 0.004). Soluble CD40-ligand (sCD40L), a platelet activator and pro-coagulant, was higher in NFP (31.81 versus 80.45 pg/mL, P< 0.001). RANTES, a leukocyte chemotactic cytokine was higher in NFP (26.19 versus 1418.00 pg/mL, P< 0.001). Interleukin-4 (5.70 versus 0.00 pg/mL, P= 0.03) and IL-8 (2.20 versus 0.52 pg/ml, P= 0.03) levels were higher in were higher in FFP.

Frozen storage of plasma may result in decrease of several growth factors and/or pro-coagulants found in NFP. In addition, the freezing and thawing process may induce release of pro-inflammatory chemokines. Further studies are needed to determine if these cytokines result in improved outcomes with NFP over FFP in transfusion of trauma patients.

The adsorption kinetics of DHA1 and DHA4 were best fitted with pseudo-second order model. The adsorption of DHAs on MMWCNTs was weaker than that on MWCNTs, and DHA1 was easier to adsorb to MWCNTs and MMWCNTs than DHA4. The phenanthrene adsorption capacities by 121MMWCNTs and 421MMWCNTs with higher polar groups and magnetic gradient were less than that of MWCNTs. The pH value had no obvious effect on the adsorption of phenanthrene to MWCNTs loaded with different iron. Additionally, the DHAs could form soluble complexes of DHAs-Fe (II) in solution to reduce the phenanthrene adsorption on MMWCNTs, DHA1 inhibit more obviously phenanthrene adsorbed onto MWCNTs and MMWCNTs than DHA4. As for MMWCNTs, the main mechanisms of phenanthrene adsorbed onto it included new adsorption sites formed by π-π interaction and magnetic gradient. In this study, MMWCNTs after adsorbed DHAs had a weaker inhibitory effect on phenanthrene adsorption than MWCNTs, implying that when phenanthrene is adsorbed by DHAs-coated MMWCNTs, the bioavailability and mobility of phenanthrene will be reduced, and it is easy to be removed by the magnet for further processing.A novel composite (CNTs-Fe3O4) was synthesized by a ball-milling strategy and characterized by BET, SEM, FTIR, XRD and VSM. The as-fabricated CNTs-Fe3O4 was used to remove six sulfonamides by a Fenton degradation process, including sulfanilamide (SAM), sulfamerazine (SMR), sulfadimethoxine (SMX), sulfadiazine (SDZ), sulfamethazine (SMT) and sulfametoxydiazine (SMD). The degradation behaviors of six sulfonamides in CNTs-Fe3O4/H2O2 system and the relationship between molecular structure of sulfonamides and their degradation behaviors were investigated systematically. Batch experimental results showed that the as-fabricated CNTs-Fe3O4 had excellent Fenton catalytic activity for the degradation of sulfonamides due to its unique porous structure and the good combination mode of CNTs with Fe3O4 particles. The first-order kinetic mode could better describe the degradation behaviors of six sulfonamides in CNTs-Fe3O4/H2O2 system, and the degradation rate constant could be ordered as SAM less then SMT less then SDZ less then SMR less then SMD less then SMX. The quantitative relationship between the Mulliken charge of sulfonamides (x) and their degradation rate constant (y) in CNTs-Fe3O4/H2O2 system could be described as y = - 28.719x + 15.67 (R2 = 0.957). Finally, the possible synthesis mechanisms of CNTs-Fe3O4 and the degradation mechanisms of sulfonamides in CNTs-Fe3O4/H2O2 system was proposed. The diversity of cultivable bacteria associated with plants from phytomanaged soils with mixed trace metal (TM) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination in Pierrelaye (France) was evaluated. The emphasis was on the cultivable bacterial community since the overall objective is to obtain inoculants to improve the remediation of this type of contaminated site. Root endophytic and rhizosphere soil bacterial counts were determined, and isolates were pooled by amplified rDNA restriction analysis and identified by 16S rDNA sequencing. Isolates were further characterized for the production of plant growth-promoting (PGP) substances, and resistance to TM. The selected strains were evaluated for their ability to degrade PAHs. Enfortumab vedotin-ejfv The potential of cell-free microbial supernatant to increase the mobilisation of PAHs from the polluted soil of Pierrelaye was also evaluated. Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria dominated the collection of isolates, and differences in taxonomic diversity were observed between plant species (Populus or Zea mays) and depending on the remediation treatment (Populus inoculation with mycorrhizae or Populus intercropping with Alnus). The majority of isolates exhibited at least one of the tested PGP traits, as well as resistance to more than one TM. Several rhizosphere, endophyte and even one bulk soil isolate showed high rates of fluoranthene and pyrene reduction. The endophyte Rhizobium strain MR28 isolated from maize and degrading pyrene produced bioemulsifying molecules capable of improving the availability of PAHs from the soil of Pierrelaye. A selection of the most interesting strains was made for further re-inoculation experiments in order to assess their potential in rhizoremediation processes.
