The clinical features of adult-onset atopic dermatitis (AD) are heterogeneous and the diagnosis can be a challenge. A new biologic drug (dupilumab) has been approved for moderate to severe AD in adult patients. The efficacy and safety have been demonstrated in clinical trials, but these studies do not reflect conditions in daily practice and do not consider the different clinical manifestations of AD.

Analyzing the dupilumab activity in a real-world setting and comparing its efficacy on different AD phenotypes.

We retrospectively evaluated 221 AD patients treated with dupilumab, stratified into six clinical phenotypes classic, generalized eczema inflammatory and lichenoid patterns, prurigo, nummular eczema, and erythroderma. At baseline and at weeks 4, 16, and 52, the disease severity was assessed through the Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) and the quality of life was assessed through the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) questionnaire, Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale (itch NRS), and Peak Sleep NRS.

We found a significant improvement after 16 weeks of treatment (
< 0.0001) in all six phenotypes for all the assessed scores mentioned above, persisting up to week 52. The best improvement was seen in the more severe phenotypes, particularly the erythrodermic one.

The present study confirmed the efficacy and safety of dupilumab in the treatment of severe AD. Its strength was in the stratification of AD patients in six different phenotypes based on their clinical presentation, all of whom markedly improved in terms of both clinically evident and reported symptoms, as well as their quality of life.

However, westerners generally reject insects as an ingredient of food products and meals. The aim of our study was to assess if explicitly labelling food as containing insects and/or implying it by manipulating the appearance of food influences the participants' perception of food products or their behavioral reaction to such products. Participants were asked to try a range of foods, none of which contained ingredients derived from insects. However, the experimental conditions varied with regard to food labelling (insect content) and appearance (traces of insect-like ingredients). We observed the participants' non-verbal behavioral reactions to the foods. Next, the respondents filled in a questionnaire evaluating the food's properties. Additionally, we asked the participants to fill in a set of questionnaires measuring other variables (food neophobia, disgust, variety seeking, etc.) The results showed that products labelled as containing insects are consumed with reluctance and in lower quantities despite their appearance. In addition, people with lower general neophobia and a higher tendency to seek variety tried the insect-labelled samples sooner than people from the other groups. Recommendations for marketing strategies are provided. The primary goal of this study was to investigate the monotonic tensile behavior of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) in its virgin, regrind, and laminated forms. HDPE is the most commonly used polymer in many industries. A variety of tensile tests were performed using plate-type specimens made of rectangular plaques. Several factors can affect the tensile behavior such as thickness, processing technique, temperature, and strain rate. Testing temperatures were chosen at -40, 23 (room temperature, RT), 53, and 82 °C to investigate temperature effect. Tensile properties, including elastic modulus, yield strength, and ultimate tensile strength, were obtained for all conditions. Tensile properties significantly reduced by increasing temperature while elastic modulus and ultimate tensile strength linearly increased at higher strain rates. A significant effect of thickness on tensile properties was observed for injection molding specimens at 23 °C, but no thickness effect was observed for compression molded specimens at either 23 or 82 °C. The aforementioned effects and discussion of their influence on tensile properties are presented in this paper. Polynomial relations for tensile properties, including elastic modulus, yield strength, and ultimate tensile strength, were developed as functions of temperature and strain rate. Such relations can be used to estimate tensile properties of HDPE as a function of temperature and/or strain rate for application in designing parts with this material.A rapidly growing number of vehicles in recent years cause long traffic jams and difficulty in the management of traffic in cities. One of the most significant reasons for increased traffic jams on the road is random parking in unauthorized and non-permitted places. In addition, managing of available parking places cannot achieve the expected reduction in traffic congestion related problems due to mismanagement, lack of real-time parking guidance to the drivers, and general ignorance. As the number of roads, highways and related resources has not increased significantly, a rising need for a smart, dynamic and effective parking solution is observed. Accordingly, with the use of multiple sensors, appropriate communication network and advanced processing capabilities of edge and cloud computing, a smart parking system can help manage parking effectively and make it easier for the vehicle owners. selleck chemical In this paper, we propose a multi-layer architecture for smart parking system consisting of multi-parametric parking slot sensor nodes, latest long-range low-power wireless communication technology and Edge-Cloud computation. The proposed system enables dynamic management of parking for large areas while providing useful information to the drivers about available parking locations and related services through near real-time monitoring of vehicles. Furthermore, we propose a dynamic pricing algorithm to yield maximum possible revenue for the parking authority and optimum parking slot availability for the drivers.
