Concentrating on Diet plan Quality on the Workplace: Affect on Cardiometabolic Threat.

In this review, the authors summarize a case-based approach in the management of acute febrile diseases.There are still many unknowns regarding the potential application of Procalcitonin (PCT) as an adjunct to aid the diagnosis of Prosthetic Joint Infection. A systematic review searching scientific articles was performed with keywords "Procalcitonin", "Total Hip Replacement", and "Total Knee Replacement" (n=123). After review of the abstract and full text for relevance, ten articles were included (n=10). Serum PCT levels for chronic Total Hip Replacement (THR) and Total Knee Replacement (TKR) have a range of mean values from 1.5 ng/ml to 14.2 ng/ml. Specificity ranges from 0.27 to 0.98, while sensitivity is from 0.33 to 0.9. On primary THR/TKR with confirmation of non-infected status, serum PCT peaks between 1-3 days post-operatively, with peak levels varying from 0.12 - 0.79 ng/ml. Based on this review, serum PCT is not a good adjunct in diagnosing Prosthetic Joint Infection (PJI). Synovial fluid PCT fluid may add better clinical support but requires further studies. There were several limitations with this review the studies are small and heterogeneous, there was a variable definition of PJI, and there was a wide range of mean values, sensitivity and specificity.INTRODUCTION Superior mesenteric artery syndrome (SMAS) is a relatively rare cause of chronic duodenal obstruction, owing to the compression of the third portion of the duodenum. OBJECTIVES This retrospective study aims to discuss the efficacy of enteral nutrition (EN) therapy in nutritional status and symptom improvement at a short-term follow-up for SMAS patients. METHODS We retrospectively analyzed clinical data of patients diagnosed as SMAS and treated with EN from September 2012 to January 2019. RESULTS Twenty-six patients were included (16 women; mean age 24.96 ± 11.77 years), none was excluded, and one was lost to follow-up. this website The patients' mean body weight was 40.94 ± 10.16 kg, mean weight loss 11.73 ± 7.58 kg, and mean body mass index (BMI) 14.82 ± 2.52 kg/m2. The mean duration of EN therapy was 10.10 ± 4.66 months. Serum level of nutritional indicators, BMI and body weight increased after EN therapy. During a median follow-up of 24 months (9-44) after EN therapy, the mean symptom score decreased from 24.28 ± 9.57 to 8.06 ± 8.29 (p less then 0.0001), and 65% of patients' symptoms resolved and 15% of patients' symptoms improved. In total, 16 complications occurred, including tube blockage, peristomal wound infections, peristomal leakage, granulomas, and nasopharyngeal pain. CONCLUSION EN therapy may be an effective option for SMAS patients. While it might not remove all symptoms, it can improve the nutritional status to support subsequent treatments. © 2020 S. Karger AG, Basel.PURPOSE To verify the feasibility of using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) to measure the lower lid margin thickness (LLMT) from posterior lash line to the mucocutaneous junction. METHODS This was a prospective, single center, observational study. Fifty-six volunteers between 20 and 79 years old with normal healthy eyes were included in this study. Using AS-OCT to measure the LLMT at the middle position was separately performed by two operators under the same conditions. RESULTS The mean age of 56 subjects (24 males and 32 females) was 45.4 ± 15.7 years. The LLMT measured by AS-OCT between two operators were 0.86 ± 0.23 mm and 0.85 ± 0.22 mm, respectively. The reliability and repeatability between two operators was evaluated by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC = 0.97).
