The benefits for mental health nursing are particularly noted for attracting nursing students and new graduates into this area of practice. The proliferation of online delivery of mental health nursing programs poses particular issues in providing mentorship to students. Despite changes to the mode of educational delivery, the mentorship literature primarily addresses face-to-face processes. The aim of this paper is to present a review of the literature pertaining to online mentorship. A literature search of the CinAHL, Medline, ProQuest and Google Scholar databases was undertaken to identify relevant literature. Hand searches of reference lists were also conducted. The findings demonstrate the paucity of literature addressing this topic. Evaluation of online mentorship programs are particularly scarce, small scale and usually conducted at one site only. Few descriptions of the content and structure are provided meaning that program development cannot benefit from existing knowledge and expertise. There is an urgent need for online mentorship accompanied by rigorous and systematic evaluation frameworks to maximize the benefits of mentorship to an online environment.
To estimate the prevalence of keratoconus (KC) in a majority-Emirati adolescent population and to demonstrate the feasibility of screening using a dual Scheimpflug and Placido imaging device.

Adolescent subjects from two secondary schools in Abu Dhabi, UAE underwent corneal imaging with the Galilei tomographer (Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG, Port, Switzerland). The prevalence of KC and KC suspects was determined using a combination of both subjective and objective criteria. Objective criteria included these KC indices percent probability of keratoconus, inferior-superior index, asphericity asymmetry index, maximum keratometry and thinnest pachymetry. Subjective pattern analysis was performed by four experienced cornea specialists. Subjects were classified by each cornea specialist into three groups normal, KC and KC suspect. The final classification was made by group reconciliation of cases where disagreement was present. Inter-observer agreement was assessed with the kappa statistic.

A total of 839 eyes of 420 students between 10 and 19years of age underwent corneal tomography. After the exclusion of 251 eyes due to insufficient scan quality based on internal instrument-derived standards, 588 eyes of 339 subjects were included in the analysis. The prevalence of KC and KC suspect was estimated to be 2.7% (95% CI [1.2%, 5.0%]) and 19.8% (95% CI [15.7%, 24.4%]), respectively. There was a strong inter-observer agreement between examiners' classification of the subjects' KC status (kappa=0.84).

Perceptions of alcohol availability and peer and parental acceptance of teen drinking related to an increased likelihood of binge drinking, and binge drinking related to an increased risk of physical, sexual, and emotional TDV victimization. Also, alcohol availability and perceived parental and peer norms exerted a direct influence on the increased likelihood of TDV victimization. Lastly, we examined the moderating role of gender on these associations. Only one significant association emerged, such that for boys, but not for girls, perceived parental alcohol norms related to an increased likelihood of emotional TDV victimization. Findings suggest that TDV prevention and risk reduction initiatives need to focus on efforts that reduce binge drinking in teens. Reducing alcohol availability and shifting perceptions of parental alcohol norms and peer alcohol norms could be helpful in reducing both binge drinking and TDV victimization.This manuscript reviews the importance of disaster preparedness for the social services and public services professional.
